Can the mandated 35 hour work week (a la France) be far behind?

To tell you the truth I think Election Days should be federal holidays so that people CAN get out and vote.

We are happily making arrangements for all of our employees to have time to vote, but if any of them took the whole day off, I would fire them. We have work to do!

Obama’s motive for the day off IS NOT to get people to the polls to vote. It IS to mobilize and cause disruptions every from thoroughfares to polls. It is instigation and control. People who are at work, can’t storm the palace!

I guess it would cost that much if you assume that none of the lost productivity and purchases would be made up on other days. And of course a good bit of it WOULD be made up. I don’ know what it would cost, but it wouldn’t be $55 billion.
To: TommyDale
That money will pale in comparison to the number of people who take early retirement if Obama is elected.
Personally, I am one of them.
Why work if they want to spread the wealth.

People can get out and vote now if they really wanted to ,polls are open most places 13hrs, and most people work 8 hrs.. all people do not work in the day time, lots work grave yard, or 3-11, and plenty of time is available to vote if they really wanted to...absentee ballots are also given to any one who requests one..Lots of states start voting weeks ahead of time...employers must give u time off if you work the 13 hrs the polls are open, and cannot get to one on your own time...

Yikes, I had a 35-hour work week and Election Day was one of our 12 annual holidays.
To: gracesdad
My statement is that it would cost that much on that day.

If Obama is elected, the entire nation should take at least one day off a week. Yes, you earn less money, but then again, there is less money to tax. Send an economic message.

That would be the manditory “Day of Socialist Labor” every
third sunday of the month.

But it would not. Your are making far too many assumptions in your $55 million figure that are not factual. There would certainly be a cost to an election holiday, but it would be no where near $55 million.
To: tet68
They pretend to pay us, we pretend to work.LOL!!! -- It would be ROTFLMAO, but it is now hitting too close to home.

Can I still get the day off if I mail in the ballot?
There’s actually a lot of people that think election day should be a holiday. Unless they find a way to make it mandatory I won’t get it off though, with Thanksgiving and the day after already in the month nobody not tied to the government or financial sector is getting another November holiday.
