Barack Obama will go on national television tonight and air a 30-minute infomercial about himself and his presidential campaign.
Several political image makers, both Republicans and Democrats, say its a smart move. But is there a risk of excess in it, as well? While Obama hasnt made many strategic mistakes in his campaign against Republican John McCain, he has, on occasion, shown a weakness for extravagance.

I think it will be picked apart for inaccuracies and omissions. It’s like providing us a gazillion targets we can hit him on as lies or omissions.

ya, I want to see what the ratings are for Obama TV.
For those of you with Dish Network satellite TV, you can watch Obama commercials 24/7 on the Obama channel.

“Im going with overkill.”
I second that.

I thought he had the election in the bag? So why do it? On the whole, he will lose more votes than he will gain. I don't like being lectured to by a politician for 30 minutes. Especially when it interrupts my World Series baseball game!

I got a kick out of the article commenting that if McCain had more money, he, too could run a commercial. The article completely misses the point that the networks would charge him much more (from a previous FR post), since they sold 0bama their “unused” minutes....

He has to do it, but be warned, the MSM will now “praise the risk”

The “One “ will be preaching to his supporters. I really doubt any undecideds will watch a 30 minute commercial.

With the series having weather problems....I’m sure everyone would rather see it continue than watching the 0ne carry on for half an hour....

A cardianl rule in sales is knowing to SHUTUP, once the deal is basically done. The more you talk after that, the greater the risk you will screw something up.
