Whether the Republican presidential ticket wins or loses on Tuesday, a group of prominent conservatives are planning to meet the next day to discuss the way forward, and whatever the outcome, Gov. Sarah Palin will be high on the agenda.
Ms. Palin, of Alaska, has had a rocky time since being named as Senator John McCains running mate, but to many conservatives her future remains bright. If Mr. McCain wins, she will give the social conservative movement a seat inside the White House. If he loses, she could emerge as a standard bearer for the movement and a potential presidential candidate in 2012, albeit one who will need to address her considerable political damage.
Her prospects, in or out of government, are the subject of intensive conversations among conservative leaders, including the group that will meet next Wednesday in rural Virginia to weigh social, foreign policy and economic issues, as well as the political landscape and the next presidential election.
Ms. Palins aides insist that winning this time around is her sole objective. But there are signs that she, too, is making sure that she is well positioned for the future if she and Mr. McCain lose.

uh, yea she probably is. and that is probably a good thing.
Palin/Jindal 2012
In other news, I just put my hand under the faucet and water’s still wet.
u damned right
she’s worth fighting for
i had lunch with a Brit friend today from Manchester
he said Plain reminded him of an American Maggie just hotter and more plain spoken
he waxed notalgically about when Maggie broke the miner’s unions
Now it shows up in the Times.
Just amazing, isn't it?
Governor Palin is the future for conservatives. She is going to be come even more popular after she goes back up to Alaska and kicks some more good old boy ass for all the grief they’ve caused her and the Palin family over the past few months. Those boys better be praying that McCain/Palin wins. It’s not going to be pretty if she has to go back there as a loser. The good old boys might want to move back into the bush for a while.

Damn straight.
Palin/Steele.
The difference is that this story names sources, people who are among the conservative grassroots leaders in the country.
Well, it has those folks talking about Palin, sure, but no source at all as to the supposed big ol’ meeting after election day.
Seems to me both the Politico and the Times want us to think there’s going to be some sort of sad post-mortem on the part of the Republicans.
The news stories with a subtext of discouraging Republican hopes and thereby turnout are EVERYWHERE this week.
All it does is give me hope. There has to be a meeting of the conservative leadership next week, win or lose, because many leadership decisions for the future will be made before Thanksgiving. The RINOs are having meetings of the same type at the same time, naturally the MSM isn’t mentioning that.
I think Palin is awesome, but I am a huge Jindal Fan!
I like Jindal too; however, I’m not a real fan of some of his healthcare proposals- he voted for state-run SCHIP. No politician is completely “pure” though. Another one who could absolutely tear Obama up in a debate is Thad McCotter. He’s very, very good. Paul Ryan will run one day too. Rep. Paul Ryan could run one day too.
Wow, repeated myself there.
Exactly.
I hate to keep cutting & pasting, but I'm too lazy to rewrite what I've said before:
Here' what I've noted before:
http://www.gulfcoastpundit.com/index.php?/forums/viewthread/17377/#127218Seriously, the McCain campaign shouldnt be bitching about the lady thats doing the majority of the work to get them elected. They should shut the f up and realize that she resonates w/ real people, and not the so-called elites theyve surrounded themselves with.
Absolutely right.
Remember, my wife was the former Democrat ( Southern, Conservative, mind you, not MoonBat. Think Orson Scott Card. ) who stood up, in the middle of McCains first introduction of Sarah, the week before the acceptance speech, and loudly declared
I want to vote for that woman!
And none of the dirt theyve tried to throw has done anything besides making Miss Emily dig her heels in.
If anything salvages McCains otherwise lame campaign, it will be Joe the Plumber
...and Sarah.
Let me expand on that, a little:
Sarah is the future. If McCain had picked anyone else, I would have been tempted to not even vote, and let America "get what she wants so bad." Good & Hard. People get the kind of government they want, and deserve.
McCain's the past ( so is Barry- communism is so passe' ) but he sees the future- and that's her.
