By coincidence, I just spent the evening at an Edward Jones investment seminar. The place was packed, and many of the people there were either retired or obviously planning for it. The financial advisers made it plain that they did not intend to discuss politics, and that they were talking about financial planning across 30 years, not 4 or 8. But you could cut the anxiety in the air with a knife. People kept asking about the election's ramifications anyway. Middle class investors are absolutely terrified at an Obama-Pelosi-Reid takeover destroying the capitalist system and ruining their lives. The advisers tried to downplay it, but they were obviously pessimistic, too.

Everybody who knows anything about economics knows that this idiot and his cohorts are going to be Jimmy Carter to the 100th power, but unfortunately, the general populace has been dumbed down so much, they will vote for him anyway and then wonder where their jobs went. I bet they'll still find a way to blame it on Republicans, even if there are none left in Washington at all.

Business didn’t do too well in the Soviet Union. Maybe it’s time for people to recollect that in all cases, State Socialism has led to endless lines of subjects of The State waiting for their allotment of toilet paper and cardboard shoes. What’s that you say; it can’t happen here? It can and it will.
