McCain pollster "It will be close"
The Hill ^ | 10/28/08 | Sam Youngman

McInturff said their responses indicate record turnout levels not seen since the elections of 1960 and 1968, which “in today’s terms, that could mean breaking the barrier of 130 million voters.”

“There is simply no model that begins to know or predict the composition of the electorate at this level of turn-out,” he said. “My own view…and our own weights in our surveys…reflect a belief that African American turn-out will be at historic levels, there will be a significant boost with voters 18 to 29 years old, yet the overall high level of turn-out will begin to mute the increase in the percentage these sub-groups represent in the overall electorate.”

He added that there are a higher number of “refuse to respond” voters than in previous elections, but he believes they are voters that break overwhelmingly toward the Republican candidate. Those voters are identified by McInturff as similar to those who broke toward Obama’s primary opponent, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), in the closing, rural states during the nomination contest

The McCain strategy is interesting, their take is that the failed to respond to polling calls are the Bradley Effect voters, and that they are overwhelmingly white and hispanic.

GOTV efforts!

http://ace.mu.nu/

How about a working vacation for 2-3 days in Pennsylvania, Saturday through Sunday?

Pennsylvania’s nice. Lovely foliage this time of year. And it’s filled with racists and bitter clingy people with guns and Bibles, so you should fit right in.

It’s not that hard. And besides, you can go out and take over bars with your fellow morons after seven. Then maybe go out in your Ford trucks and run down homosexuals.

This is Sort of What I Mean By the GOP Getting on the Stick: Seriously, if the GOP gave me a hotel room and transportation, I’d do this. Now, I’m not a celebrity, but I do have readers who might decide to come along with the AoSHQ crew if we were all, say, knocking on doors in Bucks County or wherever. If there’s a social thing afterwards.

There are a lot of bloggers people would sign up for. Jeff Goldstein in Colorado, for example, and all of his readers heading out to get out the vote, then having drinks afterwards. Captain Ed in Minnesota. The Red Staters in Virginia. Iowahawk, wherever he lives.

Allah on his couch, yelling at empty bottles of Jack Daniels that they just don’t get it.

Door to door during the day, blog party at night. People are more willing to shell out bucks for a good cause if it’s not merely work, but a bit of fun too. Combination GOTV and meet-up.

I mean, these are trivial expenses for the RNC. I’d pay myself but I don’t pay my way for stuff like this anymore — I’m dirt poor as it is and I can’t afford to book hotels and planes for this sort of thing.

It’s too late now, of course.

Swing State Lodgings? Some readers are asking if anyone can put them up for a weekend to do this.

If you’re in a swing state, have a spare bed, and can sleep through the sounds of reckless masturbation coming from the rumpus room all night, maybe say so.

Ohio Canvassers? Email me if you have any intent; a reader wants you to email him. I don’t know if it’s about getting together to go in groups or lodging. Or him abducting you and selling you into forcible Thai prostitution.

It’s going to be cool and fun, no matter which one.

Subject line “Ohio Canvass” so I can search easily, thank you.

Or the non-responders are individuals that work full time and don’t have time for 15 - 20 minute polls and are much more likely to be Republican.

Just a thought.

Oh hell yeah we are! BIG TIME. You can tell the lefties are very nervous about this. They know. They know. The "silenced" majority is getting ready to ROAR!

I really wish we would stop referring to the undecided voters as Bradley voters. Too many conservatives and conservatives are buying into this media framing.

This is an outright slander on Republicans that they are racists and that anyone who does not vote for Obama is racists.

That is not true. It is the opposite. The public being rhetorically forced to vote FOR someone on the basis of skin color is an understandable reason to refuse pollster requests and to go to the polls and vote against such coercion.

We need new labels for this effect that do not endorse the rhetorical framing of the radical Left.

You goofed your quote.

Here is the telling part of the whole article:

“This has been the week where ‘Joe the Plumber’ has literally become a household name,” the pollster wrote. “An astounding 59 percent of voters in these battleground states have heard ‘a lot’ about this story, 83 percent have heard ‘a lot’ or ‘some’ about this episode.”

McInturff said their responses indicate record turnout levels not seen since the elections of 1960 and 1968, which “in today’s terms, that could mean breaking the barrier of 130 million voters.””

This is a fundamental belief election. Is this nation going to be a socialist sinkhole or will it remain the last, best, hope for mankind?

Joe the Plumber crystallized that issue. The recently released NPR tape magnified that.

We will not lose this election. The GOP base is motivated to show up and vote the commie down. Middle America seems to recognize what’s at stake too.

The media is going to be violated in many ways by this election. There is no longer any pretense of objectivity. America knows what they tried to do. You don’t try to force a racist Marxist radical down our throats. F you. F Oprah. F all you little Hollywood useful idiots. This is not your country. Don’t like it? Do what you’ve promised to do and leave already. The French president is calling your guy an wuss idiot. France. GTFO already.

Only until Virginia is called

If it’s called for McCain it’s only a matter of time they call the election for McCain

If it is called for Obama then McCain can’t win without PA

I think he’s right, we may see large turn out by the AA community, and the 18-20 demo, but that will be off set by the large turnout in every other demo.
I think we will see big turnout on both sides, and I bet when it’s all said and done, dems will turnout at the rate of 1% or 2% more than the Republicans.
NOT 5% or more, like most polls have it.

It’s not the Bradley effect it’s POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

After we win, that’s what needs to be said, many people don’t want to bother to explain to people why they’re not voting for the “black guy”. Nor should they have. Political Correctness has run amok, and made accurate polling in this election IMPOSSIBLE, the left will reap what they have sown.

I seem to remember a huge turnout for Kerry, even youth turnout but because turnout as a whole was up everything pretty much canceled everything else out.

Could the same be true this year?

You never know
