Black Pastor Can't Support Barack Obama Because He's Extreme on Abortion

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A leading African-American pastor says he can't support Barack Obama because the presidential candidate is out of the mainstream when it comes to abortion. Pastor Clenard Childress, says Obama is favors unlimited abortions and wants to overturn state laws to reduce abortions.
Childress, the senior pastor of New Calvary Baptist Deliverance Church in Montclair, New Jersey, says he no longer buys the "lip service" he gets from Democratic presidential candidates.
"The Democrat Party has for years given lip service to the African-American community. They have talked about prominence without fulfilling the promise," he says. "They patronize without empowering."
Most upsetting to Pastor Childress is the prominent link the Party and its new leader, Obama, have with abortion advocacy groups. Obama told Planned Parenthood in July 2007 that he wouldn't back down from doing everything he could to promote abortion.
"Worst of all, this unholy bond has done more to decimate and deplete our community than slavery and Jim Crow laws ever could have accomplished. This allegiance has destroyed millions of our children; children created but denied access to the American dream, children aborted," he says.
While Obama is hailed by other African-American leaders because of his race, Pastor Childress says Obama is a "new face, same tune" candidate who has no difference from previous white Democratic presidential candidates when it comes to abortion.
Childress says he is still taken aback by a comment Obama made during his prior campaign for the U.S. Senate, in which he employed abortion is not an important issue because few of his supporters asked him about it.
"As I travel around this state ... I dont get asked about abortion," Obama said at the time.
"As an elected official, should anyone have to ask you about abortion to make it your concern?" Childress says.
"We are deeply troubled, but not surprised at the Senators remarks," Childress said of the growing number of black Americans who will not vote for Obama. "One would only have to look at Obamas consistent support and advocacy for the .. abortion industry to understand. "
"I am horrified at this mans voting record. Anytime Planned Parenthood gives you a 100% rating, all Americans should cringe in fear because they are the leading abortion provider in the nation," Childress adds.
Childress says Obama's record of opposing the ban on partial-birth abortions and his repeated votes against an anti-infanticide bill in the Illinois legislature show the candidate is out of touch with Americans and black Americans in specific.
"His response to these questions is not indicative of the Black communitys beliefs, and certainly shows a low degree of conscience and moral fiber," Childress concludes.

Thank you SO much, it means a lot! We are a younger group of Pastors; most of us are in our early 40s. My father is a Pastor and doesn’t support the teachings of Black Liberation Theology, which has poisoned and perverted the Gospel in our community. We are looked at as sell outs and not welcomed in the pulpits of 95% of inner city churches in Detroit.
Its tough being looked at as an outcast, but my faith is worth it and so is the country I spent 6 years of my life serving as member of the armed forces. I too was more liberal in my early 20s but grew up alot during the military years.
Please pray for us as we try to reach our people one person at a time. Most Black people in our community don’t even know what BHOs policies are, only that he is a great speaker. It hurts to see the sheep mentality within the community.
Thank you once again, well keep fighting to change hearts and minds, using the truth as our primary tool of choice.

I saw him at a pro-life rally and walk in San Francisco this past January. I knew then he was very anti-Obama.

I am a former Army NCO, red leg artillery, former rough neck white trash redneck that worked up to owning my own drilling rigs. Played a little football in my day, to boot. People call me a tough guy. Sometimes “THE tough guy.”
And I say, you are tougher man than me.
God bless you.

You are more than welcome. Your mission in life is far more important than what most of us could ever endeavor.
Hearing from people like you still gives me “hope”. I honestly admit that I come close to feelings that could easily be deemed ‘racist’ and I need to hear from folks like you to redeem my faith in the heart of man - which I truly believe to be without color.
My life has been far from perfect. If DEEDS were required, I suspect I would not make it to the promised land. I thank the LORD that faith, and faith alone, is required. I am 44, so I suspect we are of similar age.
Again, SIR, I thank you for your mission and will truly pray that you are successful in changing one heart at a time.

"Look, I got two daughters -- 9 years old and 6 years old. ... I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby." Senator Barack Obama - http://romancatholicblog.typepad.com/roman_catholic_blog/2008/10/punishment.html I realize words can be misconstrued and taken out of context, but that turns my stomach!

Bless you for your courage in standing for the truth.
When I first had my eyes opened about the evils of abortion, one of the books recommended to me was “Grand Illusions, the Legacy of Planned Parenthood” by George Grant. You may already be familiar with this. If not, here is some words from one review “The undeniable fact that PP still hasn't distanced itself from Margaret Sanger, a white supremacist whose eugenicist views led her on a mission to discourage “Negroes” and “Asiatics” from breeding, is in itself bone-chilling. “ It is sickening and shameful, but not many people know about this. Maybe some of the facts and figures in this book about the origins & philosophy (Eugenics, racial hatred) of Planned Parenthood and their ultimate agenda would help convince some of your congregation or friends that any group that is pro-Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion does not have the best interests of the Black community at heart!

you are soooooo correct on this issue. I sometimes feel like the only “black” activist I know and I am not even BLACK! The way some women roll their eyes at me while I tell them facts like you stated above makes me think they will never believe a white woman telling them these things.
Please continue Reverend, and SHOW them PICTURES and VIDEOS and WRITINGS from MARAGRET STANGER, and there is a great website called KLANPARENTHOOD.COM that I am just starting to use. Color is irrelevant to me, murdered babies are all I care about here. THANK YOU for whatever help you can be in this most holy and just cause!

I stand with you. I want conservative Americans to stand behind you. We NEED you. The truth of our LORD is far more important than anything that public politics would expose. Me too!
In my heart I just know there are lots of Black Americans who are not going to vote for Obama, but aren't saying so because of social pressure. There is no way a Christian can support a candidate who wants babies that survive an abortion to be left to die.
