This is simply because the yen has been softened against the U.S. dollar, euro, and British pound. Nothing more, nothing less.
I hope that nobody is buying into this rally. It's going lower in the days and weeks ahead.

I am steadily buying every week come rain or shine. If it goes down the best bargains are yet to come.

I think I’ll stay sober today just to see if you guys are right. Always like to see people upbeat. In fact, I’ll stop drinking altogether if that good-looking Guv. of Alaska gets to be VP.

I think the market volatility will continue until after the election. Then, when a clear direction is discernible, the market will choose it’s direction.

From Fox News’ site:
“Today’s Market
As of 3:20 p.m. EDT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 506.40 points, or 6.20%, to 8680.90, the broader S&P 500 added 51.86 points, or 6.11%, to 900.78 and the Nasdaq Composite picked up 81.31 points, or 5.40%, to 1587.21. The consumer-friendly FOX 50 gained 42.59 points, or 6.49%, to 698.35.
There was no clear catalyst for the afternoon rally.
Its so hard to pinpoint whats driving things,” said Stephen Carl, head trader at Williams Capital. Its so whipsawing. I dont think anybody really has a handle on things.
It is clear, however, the markets were enjoying a rare shot of optimism on Tuesday, stemming from soaring stock markets around the world overnight.
“Hopefully today will be the beginning of something positive,” NYSE trader Frank Chester of Christopher J. Forbes told FOX Business.”

I am steadily buying every week come rain or shine. If it goes down the best bargains are yet to come. That's what the market wants you to believe. Good luck, you're going to need it.
P.S.: You might want to reference some stock charts for Japan during the 90's.

Bounce, cat, bounce!
Long enough to defeat BHO.
Long enough for me to shed the rest of my stock funds.
Bounce, cat, bounce!

Now up 660! I don’t care why the market is up. This has to help McCain. It certainly can’t hurt.

Now up 660! I dont care why the market is up. This has to help McCain. It certainly cant hurt. Look at the yen versus the euro and pound today. That is the only thing driving this besides speculators.

Part of it is, indeed, the election. That’s always a factor with the market in an election year.

Must be McCain is up in the polls. Interesting 'coincidence', isn't it? The markets KNOW who really help the economy.
