Authorities in Northeast Ohio say the teenager was shot and wounded. By Associated Press Tuesday, October 28, 2008 Warren Township Police Lt. Don Bishop says 50-year-old Kenneth Rowles told officers he got out a .22 caliber rifle Saturday afternoon to fire warning shots, not hurt anyone.

The man is in trouble. I hope he early voted.
ah needs more details.
Where do these journalists learn how to write? Obviously, these teens were attempting to steal the man’s McCain sign, but the article seems a little vague on that point.
The far leftwing dominated Ohio state government wants to persecute him for the self-defense part.
This will be a common occurrence if the Obama fanatics take over America. They must be stopped at all costs.
The man is in trouble because the left wing anti-American left are making sure that Obama people can do anything they want. Just like the SS for Hitler and the KGB for Stalin. If they were destroying Obama signs they would have been shot by the SS.
Details intentionally left out.
All we are to know is that this old McCain supporter shot at these poor young boys over a sign.
They should be charged with something if they were stealing his sign in his yard.
0bama opposes the Castle Doctrine specifically so that his thugs can come and terrorize you and you have no recourse.
That link is perhaps the worst example of journalism I’ve ever seen. A sixth grader could have written a better article. The narrative was all over the place, the details were sketchy, and central, essential points were missing from the story.
TV station newsrooms-where good grammar, syntax, and spelling go to die.
The shooter should come here for ideas.
Instead of shooting, many FReepers are using glass shards glued to the wire, skunk scent (in loose plastic bags that pop as folded, onto the perp’s clothes), and my personal favorite, poison ivy smeared on the sign.
I live near Warren MI where the idiot was trading pizzas for McCain signs. I told a friend of mine about the Poison Ivy. She owns a cottage “Up North” that has tons of Poison Ivy in the woods. She actually brought some back for all her friend’s signs!
You lose the sign in most cases, but the quiet joy of picturing the perp after, is worth it.
He should have used a bigger caliber, and aimed for the tires...
Boys would have had a hard time explaining THAT to their parents.
That’s one of the reasons why so many of us (who have 25,000 or more FR posts) probably ought to be thinking of how we can turn the tables on those thugs before they get a chance at us.
Your post is an insult to sixth graders everywhere.
Originally AP stories were fine.
Then they were forbidden.
Then they had to be excerpted.
Are they back to being banned?
Actually, it sounds like an Ohio man is accused of shooting a teen for trespassing. The teen was evidently trespassing over the McCain sign.
That has got to be one of the most poorly written articles I’ve ever tried to decipher.
Honestly, all you need to prevent sign-stealing is some nice fresh dog “poopy-trapping” the perimeter of the sign. Cover lightly with lawn trimmings, and know that either the stealer will be dissuaded or the stealer will have really disgusting shoe issues ;-)
Guns have their place but not in something like this. Sorry.
“0bama opposes the Castle Doctrine specifically so that his thugs can come and terrorize you and you have no recourse.”
A man has certain unalienable “God-given” rights that even The One can’t void; and self-defense is one of em.... I suspect that we’ll will see more and more of this happening throughout the country. I never thought I’d live to see the day where my front yard could, in essence, become a free kill-zone....who would ever have thought??
