7-Year-Old Had Been Missing From Home Where Jennifer Hudson's Mother, Brother Were Found Murdered

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Chicago police confirmed Monday that the body of a young boy found inside a white sport-utility vehicle on the city's West Side is the nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson. The child had been shot in the the head, authorities said.

Hudson's nephew, Julian King, 7, had been missing from the South Side home where the bodies of Hudson's mother and brother were found murdered on Friday. An Amber Alert for Julian was canceled late Monday morning.

The discovery is the latest in a series of tragedies to befall Hudson and her family over the past four days. Jennifer Hudson and other members of the family were at the medical examiner's office Monday afternoon and identified the body.

The SUV was found at 1313 S. Kolin Ave. in the Lawndale neighborhood, police said. The body of an African-American boy who looked to be about 7 was found in the back seat, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police discovered the SUV just after 7 a.m. Monday morning. Responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle, police looked inside the vehicle and found a body.

I doubt that it will continue. We’ll be bobbing up and down for months. It’s still great to see. Confidence will come back, and the next President will look good for having done essentially nothing.

“...The most intriguing thread linking Obama, Ayers, and crime, however, runs through Ayers’s wife, Bernardine Dohrn. Dohrn founded the Children and Family Justice Center at Northwestern University, and along with her associates there, she regularly and energetically opposes “get tough” crime laws. Ayers draws on his wife’s wisdom in A Kind and Just Parent, and Dohrn, like her husband, publicly presents her work on juvenile justice not as a repudiation of her youthful radicalism, but as a continuation of it.

The Ayers-Dohrn-Obama nexus was jolted into action in late 1997 and early 1998, when a major juvenile justice reform bill was introduced in the Illinois General Assembly. Written by prosecutors and sponsored by a Republican ex-prosecutor, the bill was neither simplistic nor partisan. Well aware of evidence that sending juveniles to adult prisons can backfire and actually raise recidivism rates, sponsors met rehabilitation-minded critics halfway. The proposed bill was an early example of “blended sentencing,” in which juveniles who have committed serious crimes are given both a juvenile sentence and a parallel adult sentence. So long as the offender keeps his nose clean, doesn’t violate parole, and participates in community-based rehabilitation, he never has to serve his adult sentence. But if the offender violates the provisions of his juvenile sentence, the adult punishment kicks in. That gives young offenders a powerful incentive to do right, and puts toughness at the service of offering kids a second chance...”

Were his earlier crimes committed as a juvenile? I hesitate to even think of starting this discussion on this thread. That being said, this is not the first time a young innocent life was snuffed out by someone who should have been behind bars. Eve Carson (UNC Student Body President) comes to mind.

Is this what that unholy trio have in mind when they opine about those poor, poor juvenile perps murder someone in cold blood? Or do those things not happen in Hyde Park?

It is just hard to fathom murdering a little boy. Horrible.

And mother and brother.

I lost a co-worker to a lunatic. He was one of the “boat people” that President Carter welcomed with open arms when Castro opened his prisons and mental hospitals and basically shipped them over to us!

I spent many long weeks preparing Ft. McCoy, WI to house them with concertina wire, security systems, etc.

She was a state worker who “fell in love” with one of those nutcases. He stabbed her to death in front of her young daughter.

Lorrae Love. Never forget that name.

It just annoys me to no end when women put their love lives ahead of their children. But then, I’ve led a ‘luxury life’ compared to many (stupid) women who make their own poor choices along the way. It’s seeing the kids hurt that puts me ‘round the bend!
