In 1982 Tom Bradley, a competent Black man, was on his way to becoming Californias first Black Governor then he lost. He was a mainstream Democrat that didnt scare anyone with his plans, but his race beat him.
Today Barack Obama a Black man is running for president. He has small but definite leads in most polls, but that might be where he and Bradley are different.
Looking back, Bradleys race appears to have defeated him. By contrast Obamas plans scare lots of people.
The media likes to cite a 3% Bradley factor theyve picked out of the air.
They rely on people not realizing that the race will be a zero sum game. What comes to me must come from you explains the situation. Remember the 3% folds over on itself, so if A and B are tied at 50 but 3% of As voters are lying and really going to vote for B, the real effect creates a 53/47 advantage for B.
Two recent AOL items suggest a Bradley presence bigger than anyone is admitting. The first giddily reported that 70% said race was not a factor in this election. How a 30% yes response is proof of no Bradley factor in this race is a mystery.
The second item was a poll of more than 200,000 respondents in which 17% admitted race will be very important in this election.
Bradley was viewed as just another Democrat. Obama is viewed by many as a socialist.
Even before they knew of Obamas socialist ideology, 20% of Democrats reported they wouldnt vote for him.
Bradley was a Black Democrat and lost. Many see Obama as a Black socialist with very alarming plans.
It might not be his race that beats him; his plans and his race might beat Barack Obama.

Not only that but I was just watching Morning Joe and Brokaw is on saying that Bush needs to put Obamas people in charge on Nov. 5th. GOOD GOD>>they are insane.
To support this you have to believe just 3 people out of 200 will vote in a Bradley mode. There is absolutely no evidence to support this notion.
Obama’s chickens have come home to roost.
Did Brokaw say it with a straight face? What was his rationale for his idiotic suggestion?
Americans electing Obama, is like the Palestinians electing Hamas.
Polls from 2004:

He said we are in an emergency and can not wait til January to get the “transition” done.
Is Brokaw really so dense that he does not know that the Democrats just crashed the entire US ecomomy with their sub-prime loan scams?
I’ve thought this delicate issue would pop up once again, but I think this should be an offline topic which may invite flame throwers and unrest online.
“...Brokaw is on saying that Bush needs to put Obamas people in charge on Nov. 5...”
I have about 4 dictionaries at my house. I am going to go through each one and black out the word ‘unbelieveable’.
The MSM is, at this point, beyond the pale of credibility!
During the Crown Heights riots I was listening to police radio on a scanner and the cops were livid because they were ordered to “stand down’ and let the rioters alone.
The police dispatcher had to plead repeatedly to “keep the channel clear” and warn officers about vulgar language going out on the radio.
There was out and out contempt expressed repeatedly by police at Dinkins and Police Commissioner Lee Brown.
One quote that I remember verbatim was “when is that a__hole Dinkins gonna take off the handcuffs and let us do our f___ing jobs?”
Agreed!
Probably to quell the riots.
Marxist-socialist-proterrorist NBC knows.
David Gregory's wife is the Executive Vice President-General Counsel of Fannie Mae.
Did they really forget to duly inform the NBC listeners of that? (but of course)
“The Bradley Effect” is the Media’s explanation for the inaccuracy of junk science adjustment factors in polling when it fails to predict a white victory. When they guesstimated wrong in the Bradley election, they blamed their blunder on covert racism. Since covert racism has a ready-made audience, the boobs fell for it.
Wow!
I think it’s part of the Democrat plan to set up racism as the reason if Obama does lose. If you look at the recent runs for major office by black candidates you’ll see the Bradley Effect has been pretty much a non-issue. In the 2006 Senate race, Ford’s final results closely mirrored the polls.
