I guarantee you, I'll win: McCain
ABCNEWS ^ | 10-26-08 | Landers

US Republican presidential nominee John McCain says he can guarantee a win in next week's election, but says the result will be very close.

Senator McCain, who has been trailing Democratic rival Barack Obama by more than 10 points in some national and state polls, said his campaign was "doing fine" with the polls nine days away.

"Those polls have consistently shown me much farther behind then we actually are," he said. "We're doing fine.

"We've closed in the last week and if we continue this close in the next week you're going to be up very late on election night.

"I guarantee you that two weeks from now you'll see that this has been a very close race and I guarantee you I'm going to win it."

"We are very competitive in those areas [key states] and we're going to have to just get out our vote and work very hard over the next nine days."

Later Senator McCain addressed a rally at the University of North Iowa on a swing through the midwestern state where Senator Obama enjoys a near 12-point lead according to an average on realclearpolitics.com.

As he is expected to do throughout the remainder of the campaign, Senator McCain relentlessly rammed home his contention that Senator Obama is a closet socialist hellbent on raising taxes on ordinary Americans.

The 72-year-old former Navy pilot also struck a defiant stance as he told supporters he relished the election fight.

"I'm not afraid of the fight - I'm ready for it," he stated.

He also repeated his claim - angrily denied by the Obama camp - that the Democratic nominee had already begun drafting his inauguration speech.

"What America needs now is someone who'll finish the race before starting the victory lap....'

The only thing good for Obama is that the stock market has been volatile

But, one good thing is, the initial shock and impact of that has dissipated. The first week at work we'd be watching and telling each other "at the water cooler" down five hundred, up three hundred..The past few weeks it's barely come up..

McCain knows the internals but cannot tell us. The base needs to be motivated to vote.

We have to fight, vote, GOTV like we are behind. Never let up.

I think the pollsters this week are like skinny dippers and the tide is starting to go out. The need to start telling the truth (cover up & put the bathing suit back on) or they will exposed as the frauds most are.

I do not think TIPP/IBD and Battleground are because tehy are not connected to Lib TV networks, Lib newspapers or magazines. I include WSJ and Fox as lib at this time because they are pandering to Obama because they are afraid.

"Senator McCain, who has been trailing Democratic rival Barack Obama by more than 10 points [in the polls that are over sampled with Democrats by 7%-15%]..."

Fixed it!

Obama is going to have his ass handed to him by the people of America on November 4th, 2008!

What we need right now is a knock-out campaign commercial, one so brilliant and hard-hitting that it tips McCain right over the edge.

He's had a lot of great ads. The Joe the Plumber one is the latest greatest one.

Don’t say that, John. You don’t want to psych the other side up. You know how when a football team player guarantees a win it ends up taped to all the lockers of the other team? Be careful. Let them think they are winning.

He tends to telegraph too much info to obama’s side.

People these days are programmed to go from one sensational headline to the next without blinking (or remembering the prior issue). You're right - the stock market is old news - until it rises again, which can only help McCain.

I hope that is a vision of the future, for regardless of who wins, that would be one fascinating election night. Wow. Of course, I would hope McCain would win, and he would in that scenario.

what was that river where they keep finding Nixon ballot boxes to this day?

Was that the same river where they found D. B. Coopers' ransom money?

The money was found in the NW in the Columbia River. I imagine Nixon ballot boxes would have been found in some river outside of Chicago. Nixon was urged to contest the vote in Illinois, but though that it would be too divisive to the country at the time.

My first thought seeing this is this will be used against him if he does win... The idiots on the left actually believe the cheaters aren’t them.

The defeated Obama will end up a very bitter man in the same mold as Jimmuh Carter. He won't even be able to win reelection in Illinois.
