McCain/Palin Poll Numbers Show Improvement in Michigan Prompting Bus Tour to Return to Michigan
* Rallies on Monday in Saginaw, Grand Blanc & Battle Creek *Rally on Tuesday in Hillsdale
[MICHIGAN] -- A federally registered independent political action committee supporting the McCain/Palin presidential ticket is returning to the Great Lakes State as internal polling shows some improvement for the McCain campaign in Michigan.
"The Stop Obama Tour" traversed the Upper and Lower Peninsula of Michigan from October 23-25 and was in Ohio at the house of "Joe the Plumber" (Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher) when the positive polling news was received.
As a result, the Our Country Deserves Better Committee (website: www.OurCountryDeservesBetter.com ) has canceled planned events in Ohio and Pennsylvania to add Monday rallies in Saginaw, Grand Blanc & Battle Creek and a Tuesday morning rally in Hillsdale.
"We are so excited to see the reversal in the poll numbers for John McCain and Sarah Palin in Michigan," said Deborah Johns, a Marine Mom who is a spokesperson for the Our Country Deserves Better Committee.
"We're still a bit behind and we have a lot of work to do, but we are feeling very optimistic about the momentum that has started to build," Johns said.
The Our Country Deserves Better Committee will also continue running its television advertising campaign against Barack Obama and in support of the McCain/Palin ticket.
"Our message to the people of Michigan is that we won't give up the fight to have John McCain win this state, so long as you don't give up fighting either," Johns said.

Registering and Voting are 2 different issues. I saw on Fox this morning that 48% of the registered voters don’t plan on voting!
You are joking! Really?
We need to take the First Dude hunting in Michigan and have Sarah drop the puck in Hockeytown. McCain would gain 8 to 10 points.
I went to the “Our Country Deserves Better” rally yesterday in Grand Rapids. They were saying they really thought Michigan would go to McCain. The crowd went nuts. It looks like they were serious based on changing their schedule to stay in Michigan.
At least we have a photo ID requirement. I think one of my sisters could pass as me, but she’s got the wrong name.;)
No, its true. They said they couldn’t endorse anyone this time. Obama is too far left for even the moonbats!
It might have been a fake, why would you announce you are pulling out of a state?
Interesting, but how good will McCain do in Detroit and Lansing, liberal breeding grounds?
Yes BUT: Wayne County is not the entire state of Michigan. What about Macomb County? Everything NORTH of Eight Mile Road? The Upper Penninsula. From Wayne County's western border across Michigan to Ann Arbor, Lansing, Grand Rapids and up Lake Michigan coast to Traverse City and beyond...down the other side of Lake Huron and everyhting in the center of the "mitten" that is Michigan state?
How can "as goes Detroit, so goes the state" be the connclusion?
I'm now in Virginia and we have NoVA probably going Obama like Wayne County, but NOT the rest of the state.
When you run a reverse play you have to send someone in motion. If they don’t go in motion, it isn’t a fake.
Ann Arbor is more liberal than Detoilet and their newspaper is afraid of him. That alone should tell you that Michigan is still in play.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot, a rather moderate newspaper, today STRONGLY endorsed McCain!
GO MICHIGAN!
I was in Michigan 2 weeks ago. I noticed, many times, where there where the lawn signs for every other democrat in this election; the obama one was missing.
The McCain campaign is not awash in billions of dollars (much of it of questionable origin) like the Obama campaign. Actually having 527's and PUMA's hold the ground, while Obama moved staff out would be smart. Add to that a return to the state by the McCain campaign along with campaign rallies in the state to promote the state as winnable, well that's freaking brilliant. It is good guerilla warfare tactics. Wonder if McCain is applying some of his Annapolis learning.
They are not the whole state.
Many, many of those outside of the major cities of Detroit, Flint, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids will be voting for McCain. Many other people (pro-life women, for one) who wouldn't vote for McCain and a male / pro-choice female running mate will be voting for Palin.
That McCain is the person who is top billed on the ticket will just mean that Sarah gets 4 years of On The Job training before running at the top of the ticket herself in 2012.
“We understand Obama’s appeal. He’s very intelligent, he has the ability to inspire, and he offers a sense of steadiness in turbulent times.Â
However, several aspects of his candidacy remain troubling. His tax policies - especially with a friendly Congress and possibly even a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate - are worrisome. He clearly sees taxation as a way to redistribute wealth, and this goes deeper than one offhand remark to “Joe the Plumber.”
He has emphasized the proportionally small number of taxpayers who face an increase under his plan. But he’s asking that small number’s money to do an awful lot: jump-start the economy, cut taxes for everyone else, shore up Social Security, and so on. We fear that such tax hikes would ......More at link

A call for change: Elect John McCain
by Jackson Citizen Patriot
Sunday October 26, 2008, 8:25 AM
“The mandate for change, already clear from the public’s disenchantment with Congress and President Bush, will be satisfied no matter who is elected president. However, voters should be careful to separate the candidates from their rhetoric.
They must focus on who has proven himself over time, and who can steer this nation with ideas that are reasonable and do not discourage investment in this nation’s future.
The better choice in this election is Republican John McCain.

Unfortunately I think it's more the race thing than the Obama terrorist / extreme leftist Socialist thing. But there does seem to be an undercurrent of being unsure of what would this guy really do if he got in office (maybe for example tax the heck out of blue collar workers and give 'em to welfare moms, etc.) that has people worried about him, and I don't think he'll get as much support from traditional blue collar union workers as Democratic candidates in the past did.
I know, that I know, that I know....that the "dirty little secret" in the Dim party is that thousands of registered Dim's are absolute rascists. And WILL not vote for a black man or woman.
Yes, it's sad, but it's true.
Well, it is hard to hide it when you cancel all of the TV ads.
All we can do is work to put this state "in play" and hope Sarah and Todd Palin can break free from some of the McCain advisors and come do a 1-2 day swing through the state.
