“We understand Obama’s appeal. He’s very intelligent, he has the ability to inspire, and he offers a sense of steadiness in turbulent times.Â
However, several aspects of his candidacy remain troubling. His tax policies - especially with a friendly Congress and possibly even a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate - are worrisome. He clearly sees taxation as a way to redistribute wealth, and this goes deeper than one offhand remark to “Joe the Plumber.”
He has emphasized the proportionally small number of taxpayers who face an increase under his plan. But he’s asking that small number’s money to do an awful lot: jump-start the economy, cut taxes for everyone else, shore up Social Security, and so on. A call for change: Elect John McCain

“The mandate for change, already clear from the public’s disenchantment with Congress and President Bush, will be satisfied no matter who is elected president. However, voters should be careful to separate the candidates from their rhetoric.
They must focus on who has proven himself over time, and who can steer this nation with ideas that are reasonable and do not discourage investment in this nation’s future.
The better choice in this election is Republican John McCain.

When the Detroit Free Press decides to endorse McCain then I’ll be impressed. Till then I’m not convinced that Obama hasn’t already stolen the state.
Michigan is too crazy. They elected Granholm twice. I think that alone is proof that the Michigan electorate is comprised of sado-masochists.
I say this as a native of Michigan who fled west 11 years ago and landed in California.
