Thanks for the post. Lots of assumptions that are not spelled out in the article that are implicitly being made. Early voting is not a scientific sample of anyone’s opinion. I can wait until Nov 4. In the meantime, I will be very optimistic.
It is all about Los Angeles... swing that city and you win the state.
Yeah. I actually believe there are a lot of Democrats who are quite unhappy with the way their party has been pulled left by the Soros-MoveOn-Obama-ACORN-NAACP cabal. I think a lot of Democrats have grown up in Democrat homes where the Democrats were, rightly or wrongly, credited with pulling for unions, teachers, minorities and the like. I think a lot of that is mythology but I believe probably more than a few are seeing their party leave them, just as Ronald Reagan said the Democratic Party left him.
Puma comes to mind. I really don’t know what their numbers are.
Turn Out, Turn Out, Turn Out, Turn Out, Turn Out, Turn Out!
Don’t forget Orange County, which is the most conservative county in the state.
California is full of what I call “institutional Democrats.” The way they talk, they hate everything the Democratic party stands for, but they will vote “D” anyway. I think it’s a throw back to Roosevelt’s socialist employment programs, I don’t know.
There’s also a lot of Republicans down there. I lived in Orange County for almost 20 years. Worked at a company called “Allergan” that was founded by a guy who later bought the Nixon home in San Clemente and was pall bearer at Nixon’s funeral. Those were the good old days.
Is there really “early voting” in CA? I’m in CA and am not aware of that.
I think this article is referring to “returned absentee ballots,” and I think those always go more GOP, so this may not be very significant.
On the other hand, McCain/Palin HQ in Alameda County told me today that these returned ballots are “very heavy” this year. So maybe this is significant.
He won’t win Cal, but it is making the pollcats rewire their mixes that have Obummer in a blowout. Its all about turnout and they just aint that excited over on the left.
Pray for W, Lady Palin and Our Troops
Yes...there is early voting. On about page 3 or 4 of our sample ballot (we're in Orange County) there is a list of about 10 locations for early voting and the times for each location.
I didn’t know that either until I became a poll worker a couple of years ago! LOL
It still is. If you know of a more conservative county in this state, please tell us.
Obama’s running ads in central NY.
People and the NY Times spread this rumor about Sarah being fundamentalist and not friendly to the Jews which is garbage. First - evangelicals are huge supporters of Israel - even more so than Lib Jews voting for Hussein.
The second point is Sarah’s maternal grandmother was Jewish.
What is insane is that Liberal Jews will vote for someone who is arguably a a Muslim, who consorts with known antisemites while they won’t vote for someone who’s grandmother was Jewish. The grandma was from Lithuania or somewhere in that region.
I personally know Jews....a number in fact who loathe Christian fundamentalism more than they appreciate said support for Israel
That emotion probably propels the vaunted Jewish left more than anything this side of Tikkun Olam (the Jewish equivalent of Christian “good works/kumbaya” logic)
Been to OC recently? Bob Dornan lost here, to Loretta Sanchez, and every day the demographics shift more toward Democrats.
OC could be interesting in this election. If Obama’s name were “Olvera”, there’d be a total wipeout. But I’m not sure Obama has the Latino vote wrapped up. Lots of pro-family Catholics in OC, with big families.
(sound familiar, eg: Governor Palin?...)
It sure doesn’t hurt to have Palin, her style and her charm on the ticket. Wish McCain showed a bit more ... if you will excuse the term “cojones” though in standing up to Obama.
He’s not going to win over any Latino votes, with moderation and restraint.
Latinos respect style, emotion and most of all for guys ... macho.
McCain needs to start mixing it up with Obama, and get Palin out front more.
I looked into this Jewish Sarah Palin claim, and found that no one making it has offered anything approaching evidence. Her dark looks probably come from an Irish grandfather, and the Mayflower claims of both her parents seem safe. (Most of those are on the "Sheigam" side!) Here is a standard genealogy for Sarah Palin's father and mother. Note that the author bases part of his work on that of William Reitwiesner and Gary Boyd Roberts, two of the top presidential genealogists in the land, and whom I would trust long before an anonymous contributor at Wiki.answers.com, or anywhere else with "wiki" in the name. Some sites are saying "Sheigam" was changed to "Sheeran" at Ellis Island. Any experienced researcher will tell you that kind of story is almost always bogus. Immigration officials copied the passenger manifests, which were filled out in Europe before departure. Her mother's father was Sheeran, not Sheigam, and he appears purely Irish. Her grandmaternal Gowers go back to Norfolk, England, not Lithuania. Her father's mother was a Brandt, not a Coleman. (And even if she was, two of Saint Paul's last three mayors were Colemans, but only one was Jewish.) I went to Heritage Quest online and found her Sheerans and Brandts on the 1920 Census. Anonymous claimants offer no verification, yet somehow "debunk" serious researchers? Compared to this, Joe Sobran is a Shakespeare scholar.
Palin has never addressed this. If she takes the time then critics will claim she's anti-semite if she disavows the rumour. If she says it's true then they will call her a traitor to her faith and it's leftist leanings (as practiced by most in the west now)
Yeah I have known a few too. You cannot even talk to them. They are almost like little children who will cover their ears and yell. Sad.
If they vote for Hamas’s man from Chicago then they are insane...and we know many will. I could not believe Streisand sang for Hussein. Amazing.
i read that the grandmother’s name was not Irish. This was an Ellis Island name. I forget where I read it. It could be a myth but what I read was fairly detailed.
