Good omens in California
redstate.com ^

California has begun early voting already as well as mail-in balloting. The number of people who have gone in to vote in person has been extensive. The results so far prove what we had always suspected. The polls are being proven as totally unreliable.

No chance. Too many Democrats, too many illegals, Hollywood, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Berkeley, Santa Cruz, Marin County,

Arnie took it. Yeah, I know he's a RINO but they don't know that...all they know is that he is a Republlican.

I live in the United Communist Counties of California, in the LA area, if CA goes McCain...then, he will win this election in a landslide.

The point here is not that McCain can take Cali but that it points to a trend which, if repeated nationally , would see him safely home.

Sounds like a plan.

I wonder what is the source for that information of early voting in California? Without a source, it makes me uncomfortable to view it as fact.

If Obama does not take California by at least 5 points, this goes down as officially the weirdest election ever.

CatOwner may be right about that with a strong Democrat. But a lot of Democrats apparently don't like Obama all that much to begin with. They just don't feel comfortable with him. The hardcore Democrats will of course go for him anyway. But others won't.

Every single election year, the California results come in and Republicans get excited from the early returns showing them ahead - all based on the early absentee results.

If he can take it only down to the wire, it will be a long night this year.

There are many hispanics in California. That being said, many of them are Catholic.

There are many hispanics in my neighborhood, and they are real catholics, not the D.C. politician variety.

Agreed.
Sorry to say but there is no way that McCain will take this state.
It’s far too looney here.

I think there is a major undercurrent among Hispanics against Obama. The Catholic Church also is very concerned sabout him. Based on things we have heard in NM - Obama may get fewer Hispanic votes.

I think Obama gets a lot fewer Jewish votes in CA too. In FL - Kerry got 77% and they are expecting 57% for Obama. Zogby said in his poll that McCain was leading among Jewish voters which would be a shock.

Anyone know how the Asian community in CA feels about Obama? My guess is the Vietnamese-Americans go big for McCain as will Korean-Americans. I am not sure about Chinese or Japanese-Americans.

Almost impossible to pigeonhole groups and their voting patterns. CA is such a mess that maybe people are finally getting fed up.

Well, a lot, tons actually, of Democrats do not realize the state of the Democrat party. They think it is the party of the working man, JFK and then even the pimply imperfect but prosperous and “no missiles are pointed at your children tonight” Clinton years.

I don't expect CA to go for McCain. I'm just saying that Obama is not the Messiah he's been proclaimed in the media. And a lot of people just want to give the media their finger by confounding the pollsters view that Obama is this very popular guy who is deeply adored in Blue State America!

If we take cali, it will be a 45+ state rout

By my calculations, then, Obama will take the remaining 12 of the total 57 states.

Finally, someone who actually understands the significance of this story - of course we won’t take CA, but if it isn’t carried by a enough of a margin then Obama is in big trouble elsewhere...places that WILL decide the election.

The truth is Obama IS an elitist. He's going to struggle to hold onto Blue States because of who he is. He doesn't come across as the common man kind of Democrat.

I live in California and have noticed that Obama has been running ads, plus Biden was here a few weeks back. I thought it was odd, but now it makes sense. Also, I’ve been seeing alot more McCain/Palin signs in my neighborhood.

In my state, the early voting dems outnumber the republicans 2 to 1. I think it is partly because most democrats don’t hold a job and it is easier for them to vote early. Especially easy when the democrats are getting free bus and car rides to the polling station.
