So Ras then expects us to believe WI is running ahead of the supposed GOP deficit of 8 points. Ok...
Anyway, good for us. This actually means WI is in play.
Mac should concentrate on the States you mentioned, love Pennsylvania, and ardently court Michigan. NH and Iowa, too. Non-stop.
Peak at the right time and Pray for PUMA participation.
Mac has wasted too much time fishing in an empty lake.
Go where the fish are, man!
Obviously, we need the less arrogantly biased local media to report on our campaign events.
I guess the issue is “all politics is local” v. “call me when you need me.”
Mac and the Governor need to keep it on the ground, in the trenches, with three or more events a day. No specifics on anything; broad themes.
Mac needs to point out, just say it, that Obama is a socialist who wants to take your paycheck and spread it around.
But, with a week or so to go, I fear we will only win if we vote in very large numbers. I think we will. Fear is a good motivator.
As stated by others here, I sense we are doing better in all regards. The shift in Catholic sentiment (OK, I like the polls I like) is remarkable.
McCain is not going to win Pennsylvania, Michigan, or Iowa. Time spent there is time wasted. Time that should be spent in the states he needs to win. He should win Virginia, Florida, Ohio, and Colorado but he isn't unless he there making his case.
“Of course, Madison and central Milwaukee are Obama territory. Think it will be closer than 7.”
Agreed. I work in Madistan, and there are always lots of drooling, incoherent, aged, gray-haired lady Hippies wandering around with their “Obama” buttons proudly displayed. *SMIRK*
Get outside of town and there are easily an equal number of Mccain/Palin signs in yards. And for every empty yard in Madistan? Count that those people are McCain/Palin voters that don’t want their homes firebombes.
I’m serious. My car was keyed during the 2004 election because I was STUPID enough to display a Bush/Cheney bumper sticker in my back window. Never again. This city is truly ‘Moscow on Mendota.’ They might THINK they’re intimidating us, but we just quitely go about our business in an underground matter.
Radical, leftover 1960’s Hippies got nothin’ on us, LOL!
“Internals for this poll are as follows:
40 percent democrats
32 percent republicans
28 percent independents”
Nationally, or for Wisconsin?
Here are the real facts about WI. In both 2000 and 2004, Wisconsin was extremely close. Gore won the state by only 5,000 votes, and Kerry won the state by only 11,000 votes (out of about 3 million cast). It is a 50-50 state. In 2004, Republicans actually had a 38-35 turnout advantage, but the 27% of Independents favored Kerry enough to give him a razor thin victory. It is also a very white state (90% of 2004 voters were white) and 32% Catholic (as opposed to 27% nationally). These demographics work more favorably for McCain in 2008 against Obama than they did for Bush in 2004 against Catholic John Kerry.
Thus, any poll that gives either political party a turnout advantage is immediately suspect. If a poll with a five point oversample of Democrats and six point undersample of Republicans shows Obama up only seven, Wisconin may actually be a light shade of red right now.
Today was the last day the McCain campaign had committed to advertising in Wisconsin (as of about a week and a half ago). I’m curious if anyone has heard if they’ve renewed WI ad spending for the remainder?
Heard that some others are going to take up the slack and that RNC has had money pour in for more ads.
See if you can figure out who wrote this letter to the editor. :-}
It is a good thing this election is about over. I have not donated a cent to local Republicans in the State. I have one election I really care about and it is McCain/Palin.
I know the feeling about RNC — said I would never donate to them again but I keep telling myself it is for McCain/Palin. I want McCain to keep his promise to clean out the RNC when he takes over. I am tired of their wasting so much money on fundraising and fundraisers that take such a huge cut.
McCain has slightly narrowed the gap here.
I’m hoping to see another McCain or Palin visit to WI. [fingers crossed]
That would be great! Today Sarah and Cindy were both in jeans — wonder if they were sending a message to the RNC about the clothes that some idiot decided to buy.
