I was shocked to find that the NRA has endorsed Baron Hill for IN-9. This is insane, with a good Republican (Sodrel) who could have been endorsed in a very close election. Granted, Hill has only a 36% rating from the Brady Campaign, but our solid Republican representatives all are down in the single digits (with Pence leading the way with a 0% rating -- way to go Mike!).
GOA gave Hill a D- in their 2007 rating, but apparently the NRA thought he was good for an A in 2008.
I've always been in the "NRA is one of the good guys" camp, but this really chaps my hide. The Sodrel-Hill race will be darn close, and it would be great to get Mike back in DC.
Very well said , as it’s not the Republican Rifle Association . We need pro-gun representatives in both parties , although I would always prefer Republican control of the congress .
You can thank the morons who elected Frank O’Bannon and a rat state house in 2000 so they could control redistricting. They probably backed Frank and their local rat cause they were “pro-gun democrats”. Just think a GOP remap could have eviscerated the seat now held by anti-gun democrat Muslim Andre Carson.

Amen to that ! The NRA-PVF is running radio and TV spots in crucial states and districts and they need more money to keep these ads going .
the NRA will always endorse the candidate (that is the incumbent) if they have a pro-gun record. I had a friend who ran for a state senate in NC. He had and A rating from the NRA but the Democrat got and A plus (and he was a member). The challenger was not. They asked the challenger if he wanted to join the NRA and he didn’t. The NRA backed the incumbent Democrat. I’m also a member of the NRA.

They base their rating solely on the questionaire that the candidate fills out. I've got a pretty committed lefty for a Congresscritter, and he's figured out that if he doesn't PO the gunnies and the vets he's got a job for as long as he wants it. I think he's got an A- from NRA...but I don't trust him not to turn in the next Congress.

The NRA has also endorsed Nick Lampson (D) in TX-22. We’re trying to get him out. He may be OK on gun issues but he’s still a rat.
And there lies the problem . The Democrats have figured out that running to the right of Republicans is a winning strategy . The Republicans are scared of their own shadows and will therefore continue to get dominated at the polls .
The NRA wants to look non-partisan. Also, Hill made a point of voting conservative on 2nd. Amendment issues.
I havne’t up my membership this year. They did help defend my right to the 2nd amendment
I hear a lot of that. Someone quits the NRA because they have to get the mail out of the mailbox and make that tortureous trek to the garbage can.
That’s why there are only six or so million members of all gun groups who are part of the fight. The rest of the 70 million gun owners do nothing.
Let me know when the media blames any other gun group for defeating anti gun politicians rather than the NRA.

A cross endorsement would be ok. But there is no reason to refuse to endorse the pro-gun Republican or spend money helping the democrat since both are pro-gun. Why not spend that money where it is needed. Pelosi is surely grateful to the NRA for helping her “conservative dem” pawns.

BTW: Out here in CA, I’ve seen Republicans try to stab gun owners in the back again and again. And it’s been pro-gun Democrats who’ve been there in Sacramento to save us from them.
