Surprise at least one poll shows a huge McCain lead: [Senator John] McCain, R-Ariz., handily defeated Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., 68 percent to 23 percent in a voluntary survey of 4,293 active-duty, National Guard, and reserve subscribers and former subscribers to Army Times, Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, and Air Force Times. Or perhaps not so surprising: theres a history involved here.
In 1864 the nation was nearing the end of the Civil War but some wanted it ended sooner than others. Democrats offered a platform declaring that it was the sense of the American people, that after four years of failure to restore the Union by the experiment of war, during which . . . the Constitution itself has been disregarded in every part, . . . justice, humanity, liberty, and the public welfare demand that immediate efforts be made for a cessation of hostilities. In short: end the war now.

The Obama camp will do everything possible, even if it’s illegal, to suppress the military vote.
We should only allow the military to vote, or at least count their vote twice :)
What I am amazed at is the idea that the vote isn’t more heavily favored for McCain from the military. Guess lots of “colored” folk in the military believe race trumps even national security...
On my son’s first combat deployment to Iraq during the ‘04 elections, the good Company Commander made sure EVERYONE applied for absentee ballots. Out of 84 men at the time, something like 5 got their ballots. Don’t tell me dirty tricks are not being played. Where did that occur? Who? Military? Civilian? How?
I furiously wrote (at the good CC’s encouragement) everyone I could and demanded investigations. So, did we see any investigations? Not to my knowledge anyway. I’m sure some operative said “The absentee requests were invalid, there was no soldier that could read or write, they all signed with “Xs”. Nothing would surprise me.
you mean like Colon Bowel does?
Now if there is some way to get them legally counted...
There is a woman who works at my dentist’s office whose husband was serving in Afghanistan. Ian told her that the troops love McCain because he has walked a mile in their boots. They respect him a a great deal.
Here is the various results. These are in percentages, not votes cast:
McCain Obama
Overall 68 23
Army 68 23
Navy 69 24
Air Force 67 24
Marines 75 18
Retirees 72 20 White Non-Hispanic 76 17
Hispanic 63 27
Black/African-American 12 79
Enlisted 67 24
Officers 70 22
Somehow I missed seeing this in the New York Times.
One of these is not like all the others ...
Racists.
No kidding. Color before country I guess...
Color before country I guess...
Not a guess a fact.
