Pitbull Turns on Maverick
NY Post ^ | 10/26/08 | CARL CAMPANILE

Sarah Palin is the rogue elephant in the GOP war room.

The maverick mom is distancing herself from John McCain and blowing off the advice of senior Republican aides, convinced they're damaging her reputation and ruining the campaign.

Things have gotten so tense between Palin and her traveling staff, an insider said, that she's overruling their advice - which was evident last week when she ignored GOP aides piling into waiting cars at a Colorado event and strolled over to the press corps for an impromptu talk.

In speeches, Palin has contradicted her running mate's positions on issues, telling a Christian news outlet last week that she would support a constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage, which McCain opposes.

Though McCain once said he considered Obama's relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright to be an old issue, this month Palin said, "I don't know why that association isn't discussed more."

Palin also publicly stated that she thought it was a mistake for the campaign to give up on Michigan, and that she thought voters were annoyed by robocalls - which McCain uses extensively.

The last straw for the vice-presidential candidate was the raft of criticism from the $150,000 worth of high-end clothes the Republican National Committee bought her, a campaign source said.

Palin showed how much that gaffe got under her skin yesterday at a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, telling the crowd she'd stepped off the plane and donned a warm, cream-colored jacket.

"And it's my own jacket," she said.

one lever is a vote for both

You betcha!

As early as 02/08, I was looking for McCain to pick Sarah. On 08/29, when she was finally announced, we heard Sarah say that the date was the 20th anniversary of their wedding. As she said that, I had the thought - "What were we doing in Alaska 20 years ago?"

Then I remembered. Our church was out on Sunday afternoons, surrounding the city of Anchorage in prayer, believing for God to impact the people of Alaska. One of my prayers each time at the prayer sites -

Raise up believers to be effectively involved in politics at the local, state and federal level. Suddenly I realized that beginning with the McCain announcement of Sarah Palin, we were witnessing a fulfillment and answer to that prayer.

Since then I have witnessed people who hardly gave politics a second thought, suddenly become motivated, not only to vote, but to get others out to vote. Most of us remember the exhaustion of the Clinton Presidency, followed by the over the top adulation of AlGore. We were strung out by the Florida election fiasco. Finally a big W in the win column.

Next came the self-adoring JFK the second. Does anyone really remember him? He was an invention of the MSM. Anyone who really knew him could not imagine him as POTUS. But the very liberal democrats learned that if the MSM could get AlGore and Kerry nearly elected, then it was time to roll all the marbles for the most liberal candidate of all.

Stop listening to the media. Start listening to your heart and vote for the best hope for the future of this nation.

I really wonder how much longer we can endure as a nation when we allow the MSM, in collusion with the liberals to decide our choices for national office.

Nah.

"And it's my own jacket," she said.

It's a joke, son.

I've always been suspicious of “handlers” and their real intents. Some of the things they've made Sarah Palin do have bordered on irrational and suicidal. Why have they put her in the boiling oil with the Katy? Why have they keep her muzzled, why have they essentially missused her? Either they are terribly stupid or they have some other intent. And why hasn't Obama had to appear with conservative inquisitors? Bill O is the only one who got even half a shot at him. Actually I have to admit the best interviews of this election happened at that Baptist Church early on.

Look, I was not a McCain backer in the primaries. That is no secret. I certainly don't like everything he has done in this campaign.

That said, Sarah Palin would not be here as our thermonuclear superstar if John McCain had not chosen her as his running mate!

John McCain is NOT an idiot.

His choice of Sarah Palin was the greatest act of political courage and genius I have ever witnessed in my life.

He deserves our everlasting thanks!

God, some of you people have a short-term memory problem and are unbelievably petty, ungrateful and shallow!

Regardless of the accuracy (or lack thereof) of the reporting, she's running a better campaign than he is....you can tell because she's drawing more flak from the press than he is.

Let Sarah be Sarah!

“Things have gotten so tense between Palin and her traveling staff, an insider said, that she’s overruling their advice”

Who’s in charge, the staff or the future VP, this sounds like leadership to me.

You’re right. She has the potential to turn this country around and he knew that, saw that in her. Now, a very important part of that coming to fruition is a win November 4th. What and who she is explains why so much of the “establishment” is out to get her.

I have an acquaintance among her “handlers” and the woman is a complete DC insider who has no business “handling” a woman like Palin—who needs none, especially from DC insiders and the daughters of DC insiders....I completely understand Palin’s ache for independence from the worthless crew by whom she is surrounded....

McCain and Palin should stop listening to these self serving Colin Powell, Noonan and Brooks wimps and go out and attack Obama relentlessly.

When Powell endorsed Obam, he criticised McCain for attacking Obama. It means that the attacks work.

Attack Obama on Wright, James Cones and Black Liberation Theology.

There is truth in these rumors — and they will do nothing, because Sarah Palin is the FIRE in the belly of this campaign right now, and she will do well to trust her instincts.

I have steadily maintained that of the votes that the McCain -Palin ticket gets over 50% will be for Sarah and Sarah alone; McCain just happens to be on the ballot with her. That is why I stand firm in my conviction that the Republican turnout will be the highest in the history of the Republican party. Those who love Sarah will ‘walk over broken glass’ or ‘crawl to the voting booth’ to cast their vote for her. I have no doubt about that. You definitely can’t say that about McCain.

In basketball terms, it’s as if she’s playing point guard for a championship, and all through the game her coach has been telling her to pass the ball and let the center bring it up court, then if it is ever passed back to her to just dribble out the clock, then cover her eyes and toss a jumper in the last second.

But with two minutes to go and down five points, Sarah’s going to run the plays she knows it will take for her team to win. At the very least, she’s not going to shoot with her hand over her eyes!

The stump speech last night in Fort Wayne stuck 90% to Obama’s tax plan and how it would take our money and hand it over to people as per the politics of the person doing the confiscating-Obama. It was on point, to the point and resonated I’m sure. The bottom line for so many people IS their bottom line and that was her attack point.

That’s good to hear. The likelihood is McCain’s campaign would be in better shape now if his policy and message staffers had been answering to Palin—instead of setting course themselves.

I didn’t know until I saw it this weekend that Sarah’s McCain-assigned handler Nicolle Wallace worked for CBS News before joining the campaign. To me that makes the Couric ‘get’ and strategy more than a little suspicious.

I say...good on her! The press will try to use this to get at Sarah and the people supporting her, never realizing that it will only endear her all the more to us...and to many more.

Sarah is going to take the fight to the liberal marxists who are trying to grab control of our government. Like I said, good on her.

GO SARAH GO!
