I do a good bit of traveling in my line of work, and have taken care to notice political signs in peoples' yards.
In the last month, I've been to Iowa, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Virginia, and Missouri. (I live in NC)
Now, I know that this is only my impression, but I can't get over the number of McCain signs I've seen, as opposed to the (lack of) Obama signs. With the exception of a very small part of West Virginia/Iowa, I haven't seen a significant number of Obama signs anywhere. Where are all these supporters?
Oklahoma/Virginia didn't surprise me, but Missouri? I thought I'd read that Obama was ahead in Missouri, and I bet the number of McCain to Obama signs ratio at least 5 to 1. Even in the case of the person supporting the Democrat Gubernatorial candidate, the house didn't have an Obama sign.
Seems strange to me. Any thoughts?
Be careful, people really get offended if you, God forbid, post in the wrong category or dont mention VANITY in your title!
As far as your post, I was very surprised to see Obama bumper stickers in York and Lancaster Counties last weekend. I grew up there and it was always a RED area.
I have had my McCain Palin sign stolen or defaced four times since October 1st!
Did everyone hear that Obama is planning a victory party in Grant Park in Chicago on election night? They are building an enormous stage for “Him”, something similar to his Denver speech. But, in a big outdoor space like Grant Park, couldn’t there be hundreds of thousands gathered to hear from “Him”????
Does this guy get off on having huge crowds with him?
It’s pegged as a celebration, but, suppose things don’t go well as the throngs watch the election returns coming in??? Could you see an angry mob of 100,000+ people roaming around downtown Chicago if they aren’t happy with the results???? Just wondering how this plays out.
Heck, somebody said there could be violence even if Obama wins, such as violence after sports teams win a championship. Stay tuned...........
I am hoping that the lack of Obama signs means the lack of committed voters willing to vote for him....I pray to God I am right.
Lots of Obama signs in surburban DFW, Texas. Not many McPalin signs but one reason is the local Texas GOP office says they have none left and if you want one go buy one from McCain’s website ! I guess they consider this safe turf.
They seem to afford donations.
Unlike me. I’m broke.
At one point, you couldn’t get an Obamer sign for free, you had to pay for it. I’d say he mis-judged his market there.
where I live it’s MCCain Palin signs all over! lol
I live in Atlanta, near Emory University. I see about 10 to one Obama car stickers, but about 60/40 Obama/Mac yard signs. Ya think we think they’ll f up our cars before they redecorate our houses?
Ask Senator Coleman.
The groundskeepers at Disney will remove the Obama signs and who will put the Obama signs in cemetaries?
All jokes aside, ignoring minority areas, the highest concentration of Obama signs that I have seen are when driving through the wealthiest areas. Once I'm into middle class and working class areas, the Obama signs become few and far between.
That having been said, in the middle and working class neighborhoods, I see more McCain signs than Obama but not much more... perhaps two or three to one favoring McCain but that might be two or three per 50 homes.
and No on 8 signs.. Obama I’ve seen only one.
Meanwhile no signs of damaged McCain Palin signs yet.
Take in consideration, most M/P signs are stolen in some areas.
with ALL that money he expected people to PAY for signs? LOL
I was just in the DC Area - Arlington VA, etc. THere where boat loads of Obama Propaganda posters - but otoh, there were also quite a few McCain Palin posters. I would say something like 55-45 %. But one must realize that the demographics of the situation are thus:
Urban area: majority Barry-Zer-O
Rural area: Majority MCCain-Palin.
No. I’m in Missouri tonight.
My Grandfather lives up in Roane County along I-79. Very familiar with the road; just haven’t been there since Labor Day weekend (family reunion). Don’t remember any signs from then either, but I wasn’t paying attention then.
There are far more McCain signs and bumper stickers in my area, in San Diego, in the East County area of San Diego.
There are lots of signs supporting Prop. 8 for traditional marriage also. I’ve only seen 1 sign saying to support “equality” and oppose the marriage amendment.
“I just spoke with someone in Central Ohio today that said there are 0bama signs everywhere unfortunately.”
In some neighborhoods, there are. In other neighborhoods, it’s all McCain/Palin all the time.
I found the free pizza for thieves story...
"MCCAIN-PIZZA FLAP WARREN, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan pizzeria owner is showing some pepperoni & mushroom remorse. Salvatore's Pizza in a Detroit suburb is ending a promotion offering free mini pizzas to people who bring in John McCain campaign signs. Owner Diana Franzoni says she never expected people would try to cash-in stolen signs for a free pizza. She also says she's been getting threatening phone calls. Franzoni tells local papers (Detroit News and Detroit Free Press) she began the free pizza offer after hearing McCain was ending active campaigning in Michigan. She adds she's given away about 300 of the mini-McCain pizzas."
Two weeks ago I travelled by car From SW Florida to NE Florida, Savannah, GA, South Carolina. Not only did I not wee Obama signs, but after multiple hours on the road traveling through shanty towns and to Hilton Head I saw no more than 2 Obama bumper stickers. The McCain yard signs outnumbered the Obama 4 to 1. The fifth column American press and mass media have committed mass pro-Obama mind conditioning to the extent that it may stop McCain supporters from going to the polls. DON’T LET IT HAPPEN. VOTE AND VOLUNTEER TO DRIVE THE ELDERLY AND INFIRM TO THE POLLS. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” Attributed to Edmund Burke.
