Thank for the hints!! Good idea about the breaker..,...I don’t have ‘the actual tool’ for the disposal, but I have alan wrenches...hopefully one will fit...or maybe Home depot sells the tool......I’m scared about this one....I am picturing blades shooting at me...lol!!

I just assumed the disposal was hard wired. If there is a plug, do what Sunnyflorida said and just unplug it. That way everything is under your control where you are working.

The breaker is good but it can be a bit hard to find when you have the machine all jammed up. There should be a regular plug under the sink.

Home depot for sure has a tool that will do it. Back a long time ago there was no hole under the things for allen wrenches so you would have to come down from the top with a socket and a long extension the problem is that nut also holds the blades to the motor. It takes a bit more skill to come in from the top (make sure you get it tight. If there is no hole in the bottom for the allen wrench I would recommend getting somebody that messed with one before to work with you the first time. There is also a slight possibility that the release feature under is not an allan but a nut. If so it is probably metric.

OK, here’s the solution.

Get a very large screwdriver if you have one, if not use something very sturdy; broom handle works, toilet plunger handle or such.

Move the blades COUNTER-CLOCKWISE just a bit. Doesn’t take much. The spoon should be loose enough to come out.

DISCONNECT everything first. Gotta protect those fingers.
