Anyone ever fix a garbage disposal before? I have a stuck spoon and it tells me to loosen the blades. I predict at least a 2 finger loss? Or perhaps I will end up with a backwards B carved in my face tonight.
Before you do anything, shut off the circuit breaker, NOT just the switch.
You should have gotten a tool with the disposal that looks like an allen wrench that fits in the bottom (underneath) the disposal. Unplug the machine so you cannot turn it on and put the wrench in the bottom and wiggle it back and forth. It will then free up the spoon. Make sure you have the wrench out of the bottom before applying power.
