Will Jim Webb stop Rokey Suleman from denying Military votes in VA?

The Young Democrats Meet the Third Thursday of the month: Next Meeting Thursday, August 21, 2008 6:00 PM Democratic Headquarters 164 High St. NE Warren, Ohio 44481 Rokey Suleman, Past President and Founding Member

Fairfax County Registrar Rokey Suleman is disqualifying an overwhelming majority of the military federal write-in absentee ballots received in his county on the basis that no address had been given for those witnessing the voter signatures on the ballots.

This is the same guy:

Yes. The same guy. Should someone start writing to all of the outlets that might put this into the hands of media and others who are concerned with "voter suppression" or wonder why Rokey has time to register all of the inmates in the prison system while bl;ocking the votes of the military?

The McCain campaign said there’s not even a space for the witness to list an address. Suleman agreed; he said the federal document was changed in recent years and the space for the witness address was removed. But the Virginia law hasn’t changed.

Democrats insist they’re biased towards access... so will they try to intervene on behalf of these voters?

What does Jim Webb have to say about this?

Washington, D.C. 144 Russell Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510 Phone: 202-224-4024 Fax: 202-228-6363 Toll Free Number 1-866-507-1570 http://webb.senate.gov/contact/

Incidentally, a quickie law could fix this. Webb could have Rokey could do it quickly. But he won’t. Most military votes are Republican votes.

I guess it’s too much time away from registering inmates who “might be legal.”

Fox News briefly mentions this.

We need to get this out to as much conservative media as possible!!!

I wouldn’t count much on Webb. I haven’t forgotten how quickly he threw his “good friend” overboard in that gun in the capitol incident.

Here’s one story but you’ll find a lot more if you search “Jim Webb + gun”.

It is VA law that requires the name and address of the witness, not an individual.

In MA it is against the law to sing on your porch on Sunday. What’s your point?

That it is not the individuals call to deny those votes, it’s the law. During an election like this, wouldn’t you want it straightened out as soon as possible?

Singing on you porch in MA, really isn’t the same thing, is it?

How many officials enforce it do you guess?
How many rights are denied to porch singers, would you guess?
No, I guess you are right, not the same at all.

That's exactly right Stuart. But they're misinterpreting the law.

Of course that didn't stop these same elections officials from going to the jails to register new voters.

Ah, thank you.

According to the article:
He said it was interesting that Webb pointed out yesterday that members of Congress are "left unprotected" and "are compelled" to protect themselves out in public.

Hmmm, with a 9% approval rating, I wonder why? Surely they can't be concerned about their loyal and loving supporters shooting them! They can't possibly be worried about a Congressbine incident. [/sarc]

Suleman has modified his standard somewhat. Details, details.
