Palin scores TD with Dems at stadium
Pittsburgh Post Gazette ^

Posted on 10/24/2008 1:28:13 AM PDT by Chet 99

Sarah Palin invoked Joe the Plumber and Joe the Quarterback last night in a combination political-pep rally in a packed football stadium in Beaver County -- an overwhelmingly Democratic blue-collar region being energetically sought by the Republican ticket in the waning days of the presidential campaign.

Ms. Palin, the GOP vice presidential nominee, invoked native son Joe Namath's upset win with the New York Jets in the 1969 Super Bowl and attacked Democratic nominee Barack Obama's economic proposals as socialism.

"He's hiding his agenda of redistributing your hard-earned money," Ms. Palin, the Alaska governor, told a raucous crowd at the Beaver High School Stadium.

She cited Mr. Obama's encounter earlier this month with Joe Wurzelbacher, a Toledo, Ohio, plumber who pressed him to explain his tax policies. At the time, Mr. Obama cited his proposal to raise taxes on incomes over $250,000 as an attempt to "spread the wealth."

"Somehow Joe accomplished something none of the rest of us has been able to do. He got our opponent to finally state his intentions in plain language," Ms. Palin said. "Joe the Plumber said it sounded like socialism. Now is not the time to experiment with socialism."

Even before Ms. Palin invoked that term, some in the crowd were shouting it, with one adding, "Tell him to go back to Indonesia. Tell him to show his birth certificate."

That’s changes made to it to be PC, I am fairly certain that up until the whole “master” tied to slavery thing, the proper terminology was Master for any unmarried male, Mister for a married male.

Since the slavery connotations the use you imply is more accepted, however it is not historically accurate.

I consider myself a rebel against PC. I didn’t realize we were speaking of historical reference. I thought we were discussing etiquette. From the encyclopedia...

However, Master is still used as the written form of address for boys of some undefined age, often regarded as under 13 in formal correspondence, particularly invitations to formal affairs.

Your comments were too far over the top. Nobody was looking anywhere but at her face. She was positioned very well and her body posture was fine. You really are stretching it and looking for something that isn’t there.

BTW if you are wearing that type of clothes and know that you may be in a situation like you describe, why dress that way or go up those stairs?

Huh? I didn’t say or think anyone was looking anywhere inappropriate. I just noticed her posture and it reminded me of the few times I’ve found myself in a similar situation and was very self-conscious of it.

I take it you’re not a woman who wears skirts or dresses? All women who do have found themselves in a similar predicament at one time or another. It’s an uncomfortable place to find yourself. Her posture tells me she’s self-conscious of her predicament and I related to it because I’ve been there a couple times myself and it’s uncomfortable.

You’re reading things into my post that are not there my friend!

Philly proper? Well in ‘04 it went 4 to 1 Kerry (81%)
542,205 to 130,000(19%)

I’d say its going to be 3 to 1 or 3.5 to 1 this time around.

175k ish to 500kish to 200k to 475k ish range.

Make no mistake Fauxbama is going to still win Philly by a wide margin, but it won’t be as large as 04 for the D, and the margin D vote across the rest of the state will be down as well, so that lead won’t hold.

If you spread the 04 vote out across all counties, all McCain needs is to flip 2000 votes per county than Bush got, and he wins.

And

Pittsburgh’s home county of Allegheny went

Kerry 368,912 57%
Bush 271,925 42%

in 04, and I can tell you without quesiton Fauxbama will not carry allegheny county by 93,000 votes either.

542-130=412 Wow a margin of over 400k votes

I will pray for those who cling to their gins and bibles to over come that margin.

Good to here Allegheny will not go as blue.

That’s interesting. These days “Master” is only used for children.

that 400k margin was about 145k after the rest of the state voted... that’s the point I’ve been making. Kerry and Gore both had the entire base and the state machine firing full tilt, and at the end of the day just barely held off defeat.. Fauxbama has neither of these, he’s not going to win.

No, you are correct. I am not a woman and therefore not as sensitive to the issue as you are...but there were many other posts that seemed to agree with me that POSSIBLY you were taking this too far in your interpretation. Sorry if you were misunderstood.
