If the court agrees, the government could begin mailing notices to 140,000 employers regarding suspect Social Security numbers used by an estimated 8.7 million workers, pressuring businesses to either resolve discrepancies or fire workers within 90 days. _____________________________________________

That many ??????

And a crackdown was banned ???

we need to secure the borders first. This will just hurt the economy.

Uhhhh, Nana? What else happens in 90 days?
The new president is inaugurated. 0bama won't kick out his base, and McCain won't kick out 0bama's base, either
It won't happen. Either way.

“resolve discrepancies”

HA! Find a new SS # that isn’t being used by 20 people.

-The Gov will not tell you if your SS # is being used by someone else btw.

Illegal is illegall.....

But which nation is mad enough to coddle them during a severe economic downturn? They are stealing jobs from Americans though I will admit illegal may be necessary for farm labor

Even socialist Spain is hard on them since their housing bust and hard times

Going after employers is only justified once the border is secure.

Expecting employers to, in effect, enforce immigration law is wrong and just a copout by the Feds.

Exactly how are American workers going to be harmed?

Lucas Guttentag, director of the ACLU’s Immigrants Rights Project, said, “Instead of fixing the database, the Bush administration has turned a blind eye to reality and is intent on punishing American workers in the middle of an economic meltdown.”

Punishing American workers? This guy needs a pair of handcuffs and a cell for 20 years to think about his treason.

However, the program was stayed by U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer of San Francisco, who wrote last year that the plan could have "staggering" and "severe" effects on workers and businesses.

It's irrelevant even assuming that assessment is correct. The issue is enforcing the law, not how many dollars are at stake or the rate of unemployment.

"Instead of fixing the database, the Bush administration has turned a blind eye to reality and is intent on punishing American workers in the middle of an economic meltdown."

Only one problem there Lucas. They aren't U.S. citizens.

>>>>the plan would lead to discrimination against many legal workers ... because of errors in the government’s Social Security database and in the program’s structure.<<<<

BS. The “plan” was specifically written to allow (force, cajole, impel) workers and employers to FIX errors in the database. You get THREE MONTHS to fix your erronious SSN, using the “no match” letter sent to the employer.

Of course, all these future obama voters should not be thrown out. Pray for a depression, all these people will leave if there are no jobs.
