Quinnipiac called our home last night and they left a message. I didn't call back but they called again tonight around 8 pm eastern.
They asked to speak to either the oldest person in the household or the one whose birthday is next. On both counts, that's me.
She (African-American-sounding female, calling from CT, sounded in her 20s or 30w) asked me if I had a few minutes to take a survey on current events or something like that. I was dealing with a needy toddler so this may not be 100% dead-on.
She asked me if I was a registered voter, a likely voter, etc. Next she asked me if I was voting for SSeantor Obama the Democrat, SEnator McCain the Republican, or some other candidate. I said McCain.
She asked me if I had favorable or unfavorable impressions of Obama, McCain, Biden, and Palin, in that order. It was always Senator McCain, SEnator Obama, etc, and Governor Palin (hough Palin came up but once).
She asked me what I tohught the most important issue was and I gave it (economy) and then asked me who I thought was best suited to deal with Congress on the issue (McCain).
She asked if I approved of the job Bush was doing and if it was strong/weak approval/disapproval.
She hased if I considered myself a D/R/I. And if I was lib/mod/conserv.
She asked if this was my first time voting in a presidential election, if I voted in 2004, and for whom, all in separate questions.
She asked about which party, if any, I voted for in the primary earlier this year.
Then we got into some questions about democgraphics: married, racial, religous, born-again, Catholic/Protestant, educational attainment, income level in the household.
Elapsed time, 6:32.
I've given surveys before (not political ones) and she played it by the book, though I may have picked up some annoyance when I first said McCain.
OK, so I got polled, the question is whether it'll get counted and weighted properly.
For the record , called ID came up New Haven CT with the number 203-582-3050.
“Interesting...I wonder how many poll operators are African American? Possibly a lot of them who polled the NH primary?? just wondering”.
...the word is black. For god’s sake if we can’t say “black” in this forum then where? Also, I’m sure that the black pollsters are skewing their results/answers to go in the direction they prefer. Therefore writing down answers that they like.
I actually know a guy exactly like that. He wears glasses and he rebuilds used computers on the side.
Haha
Hilarious.
Honest pollsters rotate the names every call.
As you know, the market researchers who call don't know what to say when you take them off script. One time I had a guy tell me he needed a minute to check with his supervisor to see if I get paid. (My other ploy is to get them to hang up on me!)
And:
Wonder if pollsters are picking African-American phone workers to intentionally skew results to Zero.
Agreed.
When polled, I answer the caller's question, "Who are you voting for?" with a question of my own,
"Which one is the white guy?"
"Okay, that's who I'm voting for. Thanks for calling."
Sorry, if you misunderstood. Lame attempt at a joke. No offense meant. -:)
Oh, hi neighbor, I should have you 'puter fixed in a day or two..
No offense taken. I did get the joke. I was just shamelessly plugging my site.
Oh, then I take my apology back, you shameless @#$@#$@$#$! -:) Sorry, Sarah's prediction on victory in Penn. has got me stoked and giddy!
Haha like you are laughing at that joke, or Haha like you are laughing at me?
Actually he was a co-worker and it took him a month to get my kid a puter. He had ten orders ahead of me. Smart guy. Bought his parts at surplus for next to nothing and made at least $150.00 on each machine. That was about ten years ago. Anyhow...how did you meet him from Californie? LOL
Wonder how much of a bump McCain would get if all FReepers were honest. LOL
I am sure it will get counted. The question is did she key in the correct responses. SOme of these college students are such fanatics about "The One" who knows what they are actually doing.
Now these political poll call operations have to be set up on short notice, hire untested/unvetted people, and are easily corrupted.
Frankly the folks doing the polling are driving the answers, and too many of them want to hop in bed with Obama.
Go get ‘em Governor Palin!
