"Politically Motivated" Mutilation - Real or Hoax?
Pittsburgh law enforcement sources tell TMZ they have serious questions about the authenticity of the alleged victim who says she had her face cut by a politically-motivated attacker.
We're told there are several things about the alleged attack that don't add up. A Pittsburgh PD official says they are conducting a "thorough investigation" and have not determined if the alleged attack is real or a hoax. But we're told there is definitely a level of skepticism.
As we reported, the alleged victim claims she went to an ATM and when she turned around, a large dark-skinned man took the money she withdrew. She says when he noticed she had a McCain/Palin bumper sticker on her car, he became enraged, knocked her down and cut a "B" in her face.
We're told the woman refused medical assistance at the scene and said she would go to the hospital the next day.
The investigation continues.
Her face isn’t cut, it’s scratched. There will be no scar.
I’m sure the bruise is real, or she’d have been charged with filing a false police report already.

I would advise pursuing how she received such serious bruising instead of trying to look through the vagueness of her blog intentions. I don’t buy the scenario that she arranged to be beat in the face to create significant bruising all to impress her republicans friends. Don’t buy it. I would take her at her word until something more significant comes up against her. If she were your daughter I would listen to her first before I started looking for her role in a fictional conspiracy.
If she were my daughter, she’d have the sense not to go driving around unfamiliar parts of an unfamiliar city after dark, hunting for an ATM where she avoid paying a buck service charge. And if she got mugged under any circumstances, she’d call ME, and follow instructions to go to the hospital to get evidence photos taken and treatment if necessary (if she hadn’t had the sense to do that already), instead of skipping medical attention and running to post a teaser on her blog about her big adventure.
I seriously doubt that she's been faking being a republican so she could pull a stunt like this - assuming she wasn't really attacked.
Do you realize how many young women that are beaten and raped don't go to the hospital or even report it to the police? Not going to the hospital is common after an attack that doesn't leave the victim unable to get around, it is a shame factor. I am leaving my mind open on this attack as to it being a hoax or not, but tend to think it was real.
Well, those don’t look like real black eyes, but then no one has said they are. It just looks like a photo taken after wearing a lot of mascara, and the mascara smearing. No one turns black like that over night.
I don't automatically believe college professors who claim that swasticas were painted on their doors or that a noose was hanging in their office. Most FReepers don't believe those stories either. But for some reason, many FReepers are willing to wait and see, or give her the benefit of the doubt.
And we complain about the media having a template...

Shame? Yet she ran to post about it on her blog? Sorry, none of this passes the smell test. She was not traumatized. She was not ashamed. She was excited.
I understand the common sense approach to safety, but sometimes people don’t do smart things. If the bruising is real, then that has to be understood. Find out if she had contact with someone who can vouch that she did not have the bruising prior to the event. It is the most obvious clue of a beating even over the B on her face. I don’t believe a woman would find intentional bruising desirable even to get attention.
The didn’t even bother taking a picture of her face when she reported it last night, though they say they saw the letter on her face. If police believed this girl had really been attacked, they’d have taken a picture for evidence. She’s obviously not shy about it, since she’s posted her own picture out on the Internet. Who knows how she got the black eye? Maybe she did get mugged but then embellished the story with the political angle and the faked “B”. Maybe she gave herself the black eye. Wouldn’t be the first time somebody self-inflicted an injury as part of an attention-getting hoax. The Pittsburgh police say they are looking at “all angles”.

Yes, so it would seem. That isn’t any excuse for your moronic behavior prior to that fact being known. There are people in this very thread talking about experiences that show your statement for the display of complete idiocy that it actually was.

It’s been confirmed. It was a hoax and she’s confessed. Lots of egg on a lot of faces today.
