I have many Republican friends who are disgusted that I'm voting third party this election year. They believe stopping Barack Obama from becoming president outweighs all else. Meanwhile, I have many Democrat friends who are equally disgusted; for them, seeing John McCain defeated is more important than who wins. They are all wasting their votes.
Imagine a reckless teenager who constantly runs up his parents' credit cards, smashes the family car every Friday night, is failing in school, and has serious drinking and drug problems. Now imagine that no matter how reckless and dangerous that teenager became, his parents believed his behavior was worth tolerating simply because he was "their" kid. No reasonable person would consider this good parenting.
And yet this is exactly how otherwise reasonable people vote.
No matter how bad the Republican or Democrat nominee for president is, the party faithful support their own without fail. The message to politicians? They may lie, ignore their party's platform, and betray every supposed principle, but they will never be held accountable by most voters. Like the reckless teenager, there is simply no reason for them to stop their irresponsible behavior.
The greatest power the people have is their vote, and in supporting the lesser of two evils each election, voters ensure eternal evil.

Maybe, but I have read enough about McCain, and henot Palinis the one at the head of ticket and, as such, is the one in charge who makes the rules.
You are so full of yourself that it's not funny.
Jack Hunter?
No.
Jack Ass
So you propose a "plunge straight to the earth" route as an alternative?
It's not us who will have EFFECTIVELY handed off this country's government to the Marxist Socialist Liar Plagiarist Communist confidence man, your next President; THE ONE, THAT ONE, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama.
Not us.
His initials start with George W Bush.
That's where you should point the finger of blame.
Not us.
Bush, and his insider buddies.
Not us.
>>I think people like you prevent us from staying economically conservative because of the abortion litmus test you insist upon.<<
It’s not abortion, it’s life. There is a difference.
The economic conservativism is going to mean diddly when they tell you that your mother has to be put to sleep because she is too old, and it will cost too much on the Universal Healthcare system to give her the care that she needs.
Or your spouse, or your child.
This is bigger than abortion.
Bwahahahaha, brilliant! ‘Brilliant what? ... Exactly’
Dude, just think for one moment. I said “EFFECTIVELY.” If you’re going to keep making the argument that votes are counted one for one, then yes it doesn’t make a difference.
What I’m saying is that, for example, let’s says Obama has 10 votes and McCain 5. Then someone comes along and decides that even though he’s a Republican, he can’t bring himself to vote for McCain so he decides either not to vote or vote for a third party. Who makes out? Obama does because McCain just lost a vote that may have drawn him closer in the race.
That’s what “effectively” means and yes, you are taking votes AWAY from McCain. And that is your right, but don’t try to make yourself feel better about not helping Obama because you didn’t specifically vote for him. There are ramifications (ie EFFECTS) of NOT voting or voting for a third party that hurt the underdog.
That’s what the Dems think too.
Everything can be blamed on Bush.
Um, what about the Dem congress for the past four years?
Got that right!
Right, but on the other hand, life in slavery ain't grand either.
The three inalienable rightsthe rights to life, to liberty, and to the pursuit of happinessthat are endowed in every individual by his or her Creator, are inseparable. You can not have one without the other.
All these third party voters are idiots. Do they not realize that the presidential election process includes both a general election AND a series of primary elections? Do they not realize that, unlike what they so vehemently claim, every presidential election begins with more than just two - in many cases a couple of dozen - candidates from which to choose from and that the primaries systematically narrows that number down to a final two?
Only someone with an inflated sense of self importance could know all of this and still believe that voting for a third party candidate for president isn’t akin to throwing their vote away.
That person is a turd that will float just as well as Obama IMO.
The rationale is absurd. They might as well stay home or vote for Obama.
No, it means Chuck Baldwin will get the vote.
It means support for the US Constitution will get a vote.
Voting otherwise means you support the coming G8 coup over our economic system, and/or the global socialist coup over our Constitution.
>>Next time I would suggest that the Republicans nominate a candidate that has a history and plan that will not fracture its base<<
We were offered tons. Remember Duncan Hunter? or Fred Thompson?
The PEOPLE chose. The MSM pushed for McCain.
False. By not voting for McCain he is allowing Obama to get by with one less vote. Now multiply this by the number of people with the same mentality and you are looking at President Government (Obama).
People who vote for Obama are responsible for electing him.
Yet everyone will be required to live with the outcome, regardless of who they voted for.
I hate to ask but could you give your wisdom on this thread.
You do it so well.
Actually it is kind of funny... in a sad way.
“Bwahahahahahahaha,” Isn’t that how the villain always laughs?
