Police departments in cities across the country are beefing up their ranks for Election Day, preparing for possible civil unrest and riots after the historic presidential contest.
Public safety officials said in interviews with The Hill that the election, which will end with either the nations first black president or its first female vice president, demanded a stronger police presence.
Some worry that if Barack Obama loses and there is suspicion of foul play in the election, violence could ensue in cities with large black populations. Others based the need for enhanced patrols on past riots in urban areas (following professional sports events) and also on Internet rumors.

We’ve got a shooting range outside of town as well. We’re pretty well surrounded by state land. We do have an inexplicably large number of police officers (5) but the township covers a fairly wide area. Our last mueder was almost 30 years ago.
Now I know why there is a MLB team by the name of the “Texas Rangers”, because of the legendary law enforcement folks who enforced the law in TX. Thanks for the history lesson.
I agree anyone remember when the Raiders won and in Oakland they found the need to cause a riot.
I actually and I am sorry to say fear election day this year
So they riot. So what? It works as sort of a communith initiative slum clearance program when they do.
Did some internet searching and found out that there is even a Hall of Fame and Museum that honors the Texas Rangers which are still around to this day. Have bookmarked the website, which is located in Waco, TX.

If you depend on LEOs and NG for your safety, you will be known as “the victim.”
living about 30 minutes away from oakland I couldn’t have said it better that is way I am fearful election day
That is why I will vote early in the morning of Election Day and be home at night on Election Day night.
This is why I am thankful I do not live in a city.
Also will keep my home locked down that night.
We’re going to have problems, regardless of who wins. The country is angry and divided, and I don’t see it getting less angry and less divided.
But yes, your expression perfectly brings back very vivid memories. Alarming and frightening memories. When you lock your doors tight. Some thugs, tight high on drugs and arrogance, exemplify the worst of humanity.
No one else catch this? Why the reference to the first woman VP? Is that a good cause to riot? Is the NOW Gang going to take to the streets with their vibrators (aka boyfriends) and turkey basters? Seriously, why is this line even in the article?
If Obama loses—Blacks will riot for justice burn and loot.
If Obama wins—Blacks will riot for Victory burn and loot.
There will be rioting and violence in any case. Not Cool. This shows how race will wreck this nation.
If they want to riot and burn cities, let ‘em. However, don’t expect whitey to provide the funds to rebuild those cities. Let those who took part in the mayhem pay to rebuild. If they can’t come up with the cash, so what. Let the burned out hulks stand as a monument to the dimoCRACKtic party and Hussien himself.
Violence can only be an absolute last resort. Violence usually doesn’t accomplish anything positive, and only provides justification for your opposition. And then there are the moral issues in taking violent action.
I’d rather use protest and passive resistance. Passive resistance would drive the Left nuts, since they think they own it.
How are the Republicans going to be accused of trying to steal the election? We don’t have our version of ACORN. If anyone steals this election, it will be Hussein and the dimoCRACKtic party.
That is why such things will “ruin” the good will of the sucess of the civil rights movement and that would be the saddest thing of them all.
Second it myself, the just and peaceful protest is the best and moral thing to do, but I do not trust the troublemakers from the Obama side, who could turn to violence.
Capital resistance...
Let us starve them of our capital....
