America is facing media's "Battle of the Bulge"

"It is often darkest just before dawn." -Sojourner Truth

My FRiends, I am issuing a call to arms. Ping, forward and share with those you love and care about. Tonight, we find ourselves in the midst of a pitched battle. The victor of this battle will control the direction of American government. Note that I do not say that they control the destiny of the American people, for those that govern and the form our government takes, is derived from the consent of the governed. This is a natural law, and failure by the government to perform will deliver the manifest result over time.

This battle we face is between popular control of the government and media control of the government. The American Media in print and broadcast form is on its deathbed. American Media has been defeated in battle after battle by new media and the internet. They have been marginalized by the free flow of information from person to person, with no "medium" necessary except liberatian bandwidth. This war has been waged in the same way the D-Day invasion commenced the pushing back against the Nazi's first to Cherbourg, then St Lo, then Paris, then Abbeville, Rouen, and Artois. Similarly, we have seen the battles with Clinton/Lewinsky, fraudulent calling of Florida early in 2000, Fake Documents by Dan Rather, all having pushed American "Old" Media credibility to the edge. That is where we are tonight, we are at the edge. In the last five years, the New York Times has lost 80% of its value, Tribune is selling assets, GE, parent company of NBC, has lost 29% of its value, and Viacom, parent company of CBS, has lost over 50% of its value. These entities have been battered by lost credibility. And lost credibility has led to loss viewership and readership. Lost viewership and readership has led to lost revenues. Those lost revenues mean lost jobs, lower wages, and lower standards for those who work at these companies.

My FRiends, we have pushed the American "Old" Media to the edge. Their last attempt to salvage their livelihood rests in this election. Obama is their candidate. His entire persona, platform, and base of support comes directly back to them and the propaganda campaign they have run. They have picked up this candidate, and have made him their vessel. Their vessel back to relevance. We have this one chance to deal a fatal blow to the Mainstream Media. And they know the blow will be fatal, as evidenced by the kitchen sink being pitched just now. We have any measure of objectivity being thrown to the side of the road, we have two cable networks openly competing for liberal audience. We have outright advocacy by the AP. We have polls, funded by these same organizations, showing massive leads for their guy. We are asked to believe that no strings are attached for the funding of these polls by Old Media. We have the media's "Battle of the Bulge."

Their objective is as clear as Hitler's. Survival. Hitler knew he couldn't win, he could only hope to divide the British and American lines and then rush to the table for a treaty. Defeat in this election will relegate the "Old" Media to the dustbin. The coming conversion of all signals to digital in 2009 will essentially negate any advantage that old media had in homes without cable television. Newspapers are already on their deathbed, and can only be saved by government intervention, such as Fairness Doctrine or "official publication" statutes based by a left wing congress. Much of "Old" media demographics is aging and dying. These viewers can only be replaced if viewing is made compulsory. And that can only happen when a President is made beholden to them. That is why Clinton had so much love and adoration in the press. He was beholden to the media.

Answer the call to arms. Call your friends and family to ensure they make it to the polls. Keep standing up to the media polls and spin. Keep bringing the truth to light. The truth is our M-16 in this fight. This is a fight we can win. The Battle of the Bulge wasn't the battle everyone remembers about WWII, but it was the costliest. 19,000 American lives were lost in the 5 week engagement. We have a two weeks left to victory in this battle. We aren't at risk of dying in this fight, but the values those 19,000 men died for are at risks of vanishing from the American landscape. It is taking a heavy toll on our minds and hearts right now, but it is darkest before the dawn.

You have capably put into words, my exact thoughts about the media and this election.

If Obama loses, they lose!

They have "put all their eggs in this basket".

I am hoping more than anthing that on November 5th, the will be forced to dig for excuses as to why Obama lost.

The closest thing that has happened so far was back when the "Contract with America" put a Republican majority into the House and Peter Jennings said something along the line of "The American voters have thrown a tantrum".

It was at that point where I realized that the media elite think they are rightful people to be running this country and us regular citizens out here in "Fly-over Country" are too stupid to interfere with them.

Until recently, I thought the MSM would go out slowly like air leaking from a tire as their businesses went broke. Now I see them as blowing out...and I think they've already done that...they just refuse to admit it. Kinda' like the SNL sketch with Phil Hartman playing the role of the long out-of-date movie star flying ace who has become a has-been and can't believe it.

“We aren’t at risk of dying in this fight...”

Yes, we are. Not just the existential death of the USA, but the real mortality of actual people hang in the balance. Obama’s reign over this country would be the closest we have ever come to having an American version of the Ton Ton Macoute.

Yes, it is that bad.

Everyone, vote! Let nothing stop you, do not be dismayed at the bullsh*t polls, just get it done.

McCain/Palin ‘08!

Perfect example of our enemy sneak attacks - Zogby now says 0bama is at +10%. Not bloody likely.

Let’s crush 0bama and the old media. Vote! Get all of your conservative circle to vote! Don’t hold back! Don’t worry about the cooked polls, even smothered in Zogby sauce, they’re still dung.

Holy cow. I'd never thought of it that way ... but you're right. Sci-fi scenes come to mind of people going about their business constantly bombarded with broadcast sounds and images, by government decree.

Think of the multi-year contracts these ccompanies have on their balance sheets, on-air talent, producers, reporters, editors. think of the overvalued 14K Dow and what these aging dinosaurs have to pay. think Katie's gonna be laid off? Think Frank Rich or O Dowd is going to be told, "we can't afford you any more?"

These people will be willing to fight to their metaphysical death, sacrifice whatever dignity they thought they had.

Thank you cocktoasten for speaking truth to power.
