Democratic businessman Walt Minnick is leading Republican U.S. Rep. Bill Sali 51-45 percent according to a poll released Monday by Roll Call Magazine.

The poll, conducted by Mountain West SurveyUSA, of 613 people, had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent. Sali had a favorable rating of only 33-47, compared to Minnick's 45-23. Twenty-one percent of conservative voters said they support Minnick.

What is the problem? This seat should've been beyond safe.

Exactly. He’s attempting to run as a conservative and that Sali marches in lockstep with Bush. In my portion of the 1st district, I’ve seen Sali signs and bumper stickers all over the place.

I think it is safe. Two years ago Sali was supposed to be in a fight against another “conservative” businessman in Larry Grant. Sali won it comfortably and I do think he’ll win reelection.

About a week ago I was in the North End (which is in the 2nd district) for a doctor’s appointment and I could have swore I saw a few people with Walt Minnick yard signs—along with Hussein bin Biden and LaRocco signs. I’d love to see the looks on their faces when they go to vote and they can’t find Walt on their ballot.

Ditto that, but something tells me you and I are seeing the sames signs.

The Idaho RINOs HATE Bill Sali and would vote Democrat to get him out. He is endangered.

So I think we've probably seen the same two Minnick signs on the corner of Eagle and Overland. :)

Yep. The RINOs in the GOP here have hated Sali ever since he beat them in the ‘06 House Primary race—they’re also mad at Club for Growth because they ran a pretty good ad campaign in support for Sali.

Of course CFG also got a wild hair later in support of anmesty, but in spite of that, Sali beat them and they’ve been whining ever since.

I believe you’re in the same US Congressional district I am, and I’m not buying this either.

The same haters went after Helen Chenoweth-Hage, too. In their delusional minds, they think by knocking off a Conservative, they’ll magically get their Establishment RINO in at the next primary and general election. I’ve seen examples of that in so many states, and they only end up delivering the seats to the Democrats for perpetuity (a prime example is the GOP suburban district of KS-3, where the RINOs so hated the freshman Conservative Vince Snowbarger, they undermined him to the point they got a Democrat elected — and 10 years later, he’s STILL there).

Here around Emmett, Sali will win convincingly. I believe the same will occur elsewhere.

Minnick is trying to make himself over into some kind of conservative comptriot of the rest of us when he is anything but.

Done voted for him...Jim Risch, too. Contrary to the best efforts of the Boise media, I think Sali will be re-elected by a wider than expected margin. Maybe not a blowout, but not a squeaker, either.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Yeah, I don't think it's going to matter how many spots Minnick runs attempting to con people how "conservative" he is, he won't be able to fool enough people to win.
