Obama's numbers in OH stink, and PA isn't much better. He's hurting in FL. McCain's putting on the pressure in NH, WI, MN, IA, CO, VA and rumor has it even MI again. And McCain/Palin are just now employing their ad blitz. Life is good, and barring a major October/November surprise the lightweight Marxist has been defeated.
But we still have plenty of work to do. There are a bunch of vulnerable freshmen Dem representatives in the House. The GOP has about 20 realistic pick-up opportunities. See my list below:
AL-05
AZ-05
CA-11
GA-08
IL-14
KS-02
KY-03
LA-06
MS-01
NH-01
NH-02
NY-20
PA-07
PA-08
PA-10
PA-11
TX-22
TX-23
WI-08
And my personal favorite! PA-12 (tough, but doable thanks to Murtha the Marine smearing racist)
Details on these races (website links, voting percentages, fundraising numbers, etc.) are here spread throughout this thread.
The current count is Dems 233, GOP 202. The Pubbies unfortunately do have to defend a lot of seats due to retirement. To retake the House they'd need to basically run the table on defending those seats and win about 16 of those above pick-up opportunities. Possible, but not likely. However, a solid McCain/Palin win in this anti-incumbent environment could provide enough of a push. And just cutting into the Dems' current 31-seat lead, after months of them gloating, will be very demoralizing.
If you've been thinking about donating your time and/or money, now's the time.
‘Gotta tell you, I admire your enthusiasm.
I’m one of those “glass half empty” kind of people, and I need somebody like you to be the cheerleader. Thanks.
(Actually, my wife says it’s worse than “glass half empty”.
She says I am like Eyore of Winnie The Pooh fame.) :o)
Anne has lots of volunteers working for her. Debate coming up tonight. Last time Yarmuth admitted that even if your home is paid for the government owns it (his opinion). Very vulnerable on drilling (against), spending (for) and the bridges project (against).
We're actually in agreement. There's still time for Obama/Biden to change the momentum, like we saw Gore do in 2000. But I'm hoping folks realize there's more at stake here than just Palin and that white-haired guy winning the Presidency. We're at a major tipping point, and I'd like to see everyone here (I know, I'm dreaming) apply themselves to severely punish the Dems and the media (same thing, I know).
“Irrational exuberance”.
...shove it up your a##. I’ll bet you haven’t donated one cent nor made one phone call or knocked on one door to help.
Winning will not be enough. If it is close, there will be a tremendous fight after the election. Wait and see.
I didn't forget about her. I only focused on seats currently held by Dems that the GOP has a shot at picking up. Michele is defending her seat, and I wish her the very best. She has to be encouraged by how much time and energy the McCain campaign has put into Minnesota. I'm certain that will help her.
GO WEST!
Normally I LOVE Eeyore. But there have been far too many Eeyores on FR the past month or so. We need more Tiggers!
They're going to try to steal it, you know.
LOL! Without a doubt.
How dare you. We have rules here on FR. Show some respect and courtesy.
Next time, it should be “PLEASE, Shove it up your a##”.
Yes, I’d say that’s an outstanding attitude. Well *I* certainly feel uplifted, even though I’m far more cautiously optimistic.
So take advantage of this opportunity to help ensure it's not close.
don’t forget the tripple prime time slot paid with all those “micro donation” t-shirt sales.
It’s regular America vs. the media.
Amen to that!
We MUST keep pushing hard on every issue!
How is Andy Harris doing in MD-01, normally a solid lock. Gilchest the uberRINO is departing and has endorsed Kratovil. And I just read in the Sunfishwraptoilet paper this morning that it’s a “toss-up” (of course they didn’t provide any polling).
