Lorne Gunter: Thirty years of warmer temperatures go poof (Global Cooling???)
National Post ^ | 10/20/2008 | Lorne Gunter

Posted on 10/20/2008 10:30:46 AM PDT by TheRiverNile

In early September, I began noticing a string of news stories about scientists rejecting the orthodoxy on global warming. Actually, it was more like a string of guest columns and long letters to the editor since it is hard for skeptical scientists to get published in the cabal of climate journals now controlled by the Great Sanhedrin of the environmental movement.

Still, the number of climate change skeptics is growing rapidly. Because a funny thing is happening to global temperatures -- they're going down, not up.

I woke up this morning to a frost! Only global warming can save me from record heating bills.

Just check out the direction of the graph, people...

that's easier to do if you link to the actual image, not a page.

after we win this thing, we can work on convincing McCain of this fact. Sarah ought to help a lot with that.

Thank you, I was trying to fix that but I couldn’t get my html right...

I was doing <img src=”...

I put in the image destination and closed the quotes and did backslash-close brackets...need to figure that out. Anyway, thanks for fixing that.

Whoa. That downtrend will not reverse itself by heading straight to the right, so it will have to bottom out fairly low. Wow, cold stuff a-comin’!

Wonder how Gore is going to spin this one.

Let me put on my AlGore hat here...

------------------------------------

The current cooling is due to natural cyclical variations in the Earth's climate. However, it is laid over top of a general warming trend cause by human activity. If it were not for Human-Caused Global Warming, our current temperature would be much cooler than it is now.

As soon as this natural cyclical cool cycle is over, however, Global Warming will be back and worse than ever, as the Human-Caused warming trend and the natural cyclical warming trend operate in the same direction. This will cause a rapid rise in temperatures and (insert dire consequence here...)

------------------------------

There! How did I do?!?

Don’t need a backslash

just “>” after the quote mark.

Gore’s been almost hysterical the past year, howling about how we simply must adopt all his recommendations to combat global warming or the earth will die. I think he’s terrified that the earth is, indeed, starting to cool. Of course, if we adopt all his draconian proposals, he can then claim that they reversed the disasterous global warming that otherwise would have destroyed the planet. But if we don’t adopt them, and the earth cools, he’s gonna look pretty damn stupid.

He still has one thing going for him. He’s a liberal, which means he can repackage himself as an anti-global cooling crusader in a few years, and the media will pretend his prior years fretting over global warming never happened. He pulled it off once before, when he declared himself to be the greatest enemy of the tobacco industry, just years after earning a fortune growing tobacco and boasting at a tobacco convention that he was the industry’s number one supporter.

If there’s a chart of Al Gore’s global warming/carbon credit speeches that matches these two, we may be on to something. ; )
