The Obama question: Will his race matter?
Lexington Herald-Leader ^ | Posted on Sun, Oct. 19, 2008 | Valarie Honeycutt Spears and Jim Warren

"I was behind a vehicle the other day and it had a bumper sticker that said, 'Keep the White House White,'" said Adams, 44, who is black and plans to vote for Obama because of his pledge to end the Iraq war. "Race shouldn't be an issue, but it's a problem that hasn't gone away yet."

It is not his race that matters, it is his political beliefs that matter. He is a black separatist Marxist.

If race isn’t a factor, then 99% of blacks won’t be voting for Obama. But I’m not holding my breathe.

I think this will be the most racially polarizing event since 1963. And it will be exactly what the race hustlers want.

Which "race"?

Obomer is 1/2 white, some Arab with a dash of African.
Which one is causing the 'identity' problem here?

This question is never answered and always glossed over, IMO.

**It is not his race that matters, it is his political beliefs that matter. He is a black separatist Marxist.**

And, in their eyes, that is what makes us Racist. BUT, Voting for the Black Man BECAUSE he is BLACK, has Absolutely NO BEARING on the RACISM of those Voters.

Give me a Break, Racism is a JOKE, spurred on by a bunch of WHINING, VICTIM BASED LIBERALS, and by Handing out Racism as the cause of Political Disagreement, Cheapens the term, and as in my case, Being called a RACIST simply means the LIBERAL has run out of Talking Points, and I WON THE ARGUMENT!!

It matters to Colin Powell. So it should matter to everyone else as well.

Of course it’s an issue. Hussein hasn’t stopped making it such since he started campaigning two years ago.

If it’s racist when white voters won’t support Hussein because he’s black what is it called when black voters won’t support McCain because Hussein is black?

To paraphrase what Michelle Malkin pointed out, it is not about the color of Obama’s skin. It is about the RED color of his un-American socialist friends and politics!

Race is indeed a factor. I could have predicted that long ago. The Dems keep making it one, and 0bama is the one who talks about it. I have yet to hear one single word from McCain or Palin that is in any way racially tinged. Though of course it was totally predictable that the left would interpret certain criticisms as being bigoted. They are the ones who keep the racial divides alive, and they like it that way.

As I said on another thread I think it’s time for McCain and Palin to call them on this. Tell the Dems and the media to stop demonizing those who vote against 0bama as racist. This cheapens the discourse and causes more ethnic division. Shame on them.

His race doesn't matter a whit to me.

His liberal socialism, his arrogance and his very checkered past coupled with his associations, however, do.

This is the lie of identity politics. Accofding to this theory -

If you dont vote for Obama, you must be Racist (or, if you are black, a race traitor).
If you dont vote for Hillary, you must be sexist.
If you dont vote for McCain, you must be ageist.

So go pick your hell.

Of course, its all nonsense. People vote for (or against) candidates for all manner of reasons, some good, some bad, some bizarre. Everyone who is in politics knows this, or if they dont, they should do. Sure race is an issue, or no one would be bothering about it, but then so too is gender, sexuality, age, experience, demeanour, candour, stances on half a hundred issues, whether you are left handed or not...the list goes on.

Isn’t it just possible that people can be more discerning than prejudiced?

That's exactly what I thought when I read that.

Who's going to drive around with that on his car?

Nobody. Absolutely nobody. Just like no “masked gunman” is going to go in a ladies’ bathroom at a suburban Chicago college branch to paint “anti-Moslem slurs” on the walls, and nobody is going to put a noose on a black Marxist feminist lesbian college instructor’s door. (How, with duct tape?)

They’re all making it up, and they feel perfectly justified in doing so if it gets them attention and promotes their causes. Sick, sick people.

If 95% of blacks are voting for him....race IS a factor. No different than the Catholic vote for JFK.

I just keep telling people......

It's not racist to vote against a marxist.
