Letter: Paul’s right; McCain, Obama are wrong
The Grand Forks Herald, Grand Forks, North Dakota ^ | 2008-10-19 | Del Snavely

Posted on 10/19/2008 6:15:49 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

After watching the presidential debates it became obvious to me that it’s politics as usual and that my candidate — who was almost laughed out of the race early on — has been right all along.

Neither candidate will admit that our “central banking system” is at the heart of the economic crisis and that it’s the printing, borrowing and creation of credit and money from thin air that got us where we are.

But all through the race, my candidate said, “By injecting money into the market to prop it up, we make the inevitable collapse worse in the long run. We need our money to be based on hard assets, not printed out of thin air”.

Also, my candidate’s idea was to bring home our troops from 700 bases in 130 countries around the world. Let them protect our borders and spend their paychecks here to help the economy at home. Not a word from Obama or McCain on that one.

Nope, this election is no different than any other. All I hear is mud slinging and pandering. It doesn’t matter if you’re a “Demican” or a “Republicrat,” your vote is wasted.

I’m still trying to figure out if our choices are the “lesser of two evils” or the “evil of two lessers”.

If I’m going to waste my vote this election, I’m going to waste it on someone who deserves my vote, someone who has voted with the Constitution on every vote in 20 years in Congress, no matter the consequences.

So no matter who wins, when this is all over and we have our new president and things don’t get any better, all I can say is “Don’t blame me, I wrote in Ron Paul.”

I voted for Ron Paul. Domestic Policy — he’s 100% right. Foreign stuff, not so much, but I’d rather be right on domestic policy than foreign policy anyhow.

I will not send my vote 3rd party this election, the stakes are too high with Obama. If it were Hillary vs. McCain — then I would have voted Libertarian.

It would make more sense to vote for Dr. Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party, since Dr. Paul endorsed Dr. Baldwin for president.

To be honest, I wrote in Duncan Hunter in the GOP Primary here—of course I did this after McCain already had the nomination wrapped up, but I did my job down-ticket. Protest votes still seem romantically strange to me.

Unfortunately, a certain amount of inflation of the currency is mandatory for a growing economy. If there are, for example, $1 Trillion in currency and a US population of 200 million, when the population grows to 300 million the money supply needs to grow to $1.5 Trillion.

The problem arises when the government raises the currency to $3 Trillion instead of $1.5 Trillion.

Vote McCain or you will get a Marxist

Apparently, we will get Big Government rammed down our throats regardless of which of the two Republicrats wins.

Vote McCain and get someone who enables Marxists in the name of "bipartisanship."

I voted for Ron Paul in the primary. I will vote for Palin this time. She’s the only reason I’m voting Republican- frankly, McCain and all RINOs can kiss my butt.

This is the thing that convinced me: she renegotiated oil contracts on behalf of Alaska, and when a windfall came in to the state’s coffers, she didn’t spend it- she GAVE IT BACK TO THE PEOPLE.

That was all I had to hear. We need to keep this woman as close to DC as possible, and move folks like Jindal into position as well. In fact, if Joe the Plumber types run for office in the future, they need to receive rabid support from everyone who loves America. The professional politician class (mostly lawyers) has not served us well.

I, for one, will at least be able to say that I didn't vote for that. Barr '08!

She has my support.

Due to McCain's presence, the combined ticket, however, does not.

"Vote Republican: The Party That Believes in Smaller Big Government"

I have patiently tried (to almost no avail) to explain this to several people over the last few years.

Plainly put, it is not fiscally conservative to take people's money and spend it on "socially conservative" projects instead of the "socially liberal" projects the Democrats prefer.

It is fiscally conservative (and socially conservative) to stop pretending that GOP candidates knows better how to spend people's money than the people actually do, and return it to them to spend as they see fit.

It's a winning combination every time it is tried.
