Powell Wants Obama Appointing Judges (As Does Gaddafi)
Red State ^

General Colin Powell is a former Secretary of State for whom I have great respect. But today he erred by endorsing Senator Obama for President. One of General Powell's stated reasons is that he "would have difficulty with two more conservative appointments to the Supreme Court." I would too. But the written opinions of Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito have not been politically "conservative" at all. Rather they have been honest applications of the law as written, without adopting any political ideology, including their own. That is in stark contrast to the kinds of judges who would be appointed by Obama.

Powell like Obama is for infanticide, so certainly they agree on the type of judges.
I have always thought very little of Powell due to his hypocrisy on abortion. The guy talks about helping children yet is for infanticide???

It was obvious that he was a dirtbag....he lost all respect from military quarters after stabbing GWB in the back over Iraq after he left and leaving intel like a seive to the drive-by media.
Powels endorsement is nothing to brag about and will drive him further into irrelevancy when THAT ONE loses.

Sorry but, Powell has been McCains friend for years and now he throws him under the bus. I’ve lost all respect for the former General

And so do the Iranian and Venezuelan dictators, as well as anti-American Europeans. You can judge a man by his friends.

Colon Bowel is the name that with which I shall refer to him from this day forth. It is the day where God will begin to accurse him.

just like condi rice, powell has been very vocal about being pro-affirmative action.
not surprisingly, powell has put pigment over principle.

If McCain should pull this off and beat BammyWhammy, I hope we get to see the look on Colon Bowell’s face on election night as the results come in.
However, I suspect if we are winning, Colon will be “unavailable”.

I’m sure you didn’t mean “will,”; however, pay attention to how many freepers have begun using this future progressive verb tense. We need to consistently catch each other on this.

But the written opinions of Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito have not been politically "conservative" at all. Rather they have been honest applications of the law as written, Liberals (like Powell) don't want an honest application of the constitution; they want their anti-gun, pro-abortion, socialist agenda advanced.

Theres no telling who Obama will appoint to the Supreme Court. I believe Obama thinks Ruth Bater Ginsburg is too far to the right.

Theres no telling who Obama will appoint to the Supreme Court.I think there is no doubt he would appoint left wingers. We better hope he loses or we may all be out on our collective ears for the next generation. What an ugly thought.

Probably Laurence Tribe, one of the most foolish professors at Harvard Law. I hope Powell is proud of himself. If elected Obama will be celebrated in Caracas, Havana, Tehran and Moscow, if not in Des Moines.

There were a lot of things that came out of his mouth today that were at best "shallow".
I hope he exhibited better judgment as a military leader in whose hands were the lives of America's best and brightest.
