Powell Wants Obama Appointing Judges (As Does Gaddafi)
Red State ^

General Colin Powell is a former Secretary of State for whom I have great respect. But today he erred by endorsing Senator Obama for President. One of General Powell's stated reasons is that he "would have difficulty with two more conservative appointments to the Supreme Court." I would too. But the written opinions of Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito have not been politically "conservative" at all. Rather they have been honest applications of the law as written, without adopting any political ideology, including their own. That is in stark contrast to the kinds of judges who would be appointed by Obama.

Nobody cares what Powell wants, this is the same as the John Edwards endorsement IMO.

Now isn’t it a damned good thing that he didn’t end up on the Republican ticket like so many wanted?

There’s no telling who Obama will appoint to the Supreme Court.

"Theres no telling who Obama will appoint to the Supreme Court." I'd be willing to bet that he or she would be to the left of Thurgood Marshall.

So do Ayers, Dohrn, and Klonsky.
So do nearly all the murderous late-term abortionists in America, I’d guess.

Colin Powell got to the top because of affirmative action and the Republicans in power. Now, all that matters is race. So, like the 90 some odd percent of all Blacks, he will be voting for the supposedly Black candidate.
I wonder if George Bush is going to send him a thank-you note, and I wonder how a career military man like McCain really feels about Colin Powell. That first name is getting to sound more and more appropriate.

What a lame excuse.
Balance of Power on the Supreme Court?
What is Powell’s posture on endorsement of Republicans running for the House and Senate. CERTAINLY his “logical” thinking would lead one to assume it would be “unfair” to have a complete Democratic Congress in the best interest of the people.
BTW, guess getting his son a job in the GOP didn’t count for much.

The last thing left-liberals want is a conservative judge sticking to the text of the constitution and judging legislation on that basis as well. They want justices who believe in an organic constitution (just like their food) who relies on any source save for the text of the constitution.
I’m not sure how the McCain campaign views this matter, but I wonder if the prospect of Obama appointing a couple of Marxists to the Supreme Court would not help out the campaign.

Powell would not have his position in life today if it were not for President Ronald Reagan. He put General Dufuss into positions as his military specialist. A republican got him his high standing and a republican gave his a chance as a failed Sec of State. His way of showing his appreciation is to ENDORSE A MARXIST!!!!!!!!!!! He slapped every cold war veteran in the face today. We served and fought the communists. As did Powell. How quickly he forgets. HE SIMPLY FOLLOWS THE RACIAL ROAD AND ENDORSES THE BLACK GUY. Powell is a buffoon. I have never liked him. EVERY soldier I ever served with that had served under Powell at any time liked him. He was a political general. Not a soldiers general. He was in it for himself and all he could gain. I know that I and several others that were on active duty back during Gulf War I was not impressed by the guy. TODAY HE HAS LEFT NO DOUBT IN MY MIND that he supports Marxism for the USA with this endorsement. May your soul rot in hell Powell. You certainly pissed on my spit shined boots today.

When I first read on FR, years ago that Powell was appointed as Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman over a huge number of higher rated people, I knew he had one thing to thank for his success. His race.
Now it is clear that is what he bases his choices on too.
