'Socialist,' 'Muslim' — Ugly reception for Obama By: Politico Staff October 19, 2008 03:56 PM EST

Barack Obama's stop at Cape Fear BBQ and Chicken in Fayetteville, N.C., this afternoon underscored the continued resistance of some voters to his candidacy — and his identity. The trip, according to a pool report, offered “some powerful and at times ugly interaction.”

Campaigning in a traditionally Republican state, the Democratic nominee found lots of supporters of John McCain, at least one woman who believes the Illinois senator is a "closet Muslim" — and another who repeatedly shouted “Socialist.”

The following is a compilation of pool reports from print, TV and wire reporters who accompanied Obama to the diner:

Obama arrived at the barbecue joint around 12:30 p.m., where an older and majority white clientele of several dozen were eating lunch after church services. Many patrons applauded as he walked into the diner, but Diane Fanning, 54, began yelling “Socialist, socialist, socialist — get out of here!”

Obama did not look directly at her, as she was across the diner, but it was loud enough that he most likely heard her.

Now all we need is a Joe the Plumber type to ask Obama the question that no one in the media will ask him.......

“You spent 20 years in a church that preaches Black Liberation Theology. Do you believe in Black Liberation Theology? What are your feelings about Black Liberation Theology?”

We’ve got two weeks for some ordinary person to ask this question. I am praying.

I’m sorry, President of the United States is an office deserving respect. I will not yell things at the sitting President because I disagree with with him. I can disagree with the man, but I will not disrespect the office by yelling things out at him.

To do otherwise is to condone the behavior that the moonbats give President Bush.

I know how you feel. I’m THIS close to never speaking to some of my family members again. What we’re seeing is the result of 40 years of liberal propaganda......

Born again Christians.....SCARY
Corporate CEO’s......EVIL

America hating Marxist radicals.....no big deal

Obama is like a vulture swooping down and feeding on all this cultural rot. I can’t stand the guy, but I’m more angry at all the people who shrug their shoulders at all his repugnant friends and mentors. But then you mention Sarah Palin, and these same people say “she frightens me”.

I’d do the same thing here in Indiana if he came anywhere near my area of the state.

So being called a Socialist is ugliness? And what did the Politico report when people started wearing the Sarah Palin is a C-— T-shirts?

Incredibly, Politico (no clicks for them!) actually wrote:

Yes, and we will "continue resistance" if necessary. Which, if some folks didn't catch the historical allusion, is sometimes necessary to keep freedom alive even in occupied countries:

Excerpt:

The resistance movement in Europe during World War Two played an important part in defeating Nazi Germany's military might. The resistance movement - Europe's secret armies or partisans - gathered intelligence for the Allies, destroyed communication lines, assisted escaped POW's and openly attacked the Germans once the retreats on both the western and eastern fronts had started. Their work was vital for both the Russian's and Allies but it was also extremely dangerous as any slips in security were ruthlessly exploited by the Gestapo. Resistance movements were found in all Nazi-occupied countries.

How about yelling out: "Obama, you won't get my vote."

Some reporter's bound to ask why.

The answer: "I was raised not to steal. Obama doesn't like it when people call his plans socialism, but Obama's plan to spread the wealth around from the people who earned it to people who didn't is certainly stealing. Others may vote for Obama to get redistributed goodies, but as for me and my house, we will do what is right."

Christians and Jews will recognize Exodus 20:15 and Joshua 24:15, but the reporters will be unable to portray the speaker as a zealot, as if that was a bad thing.

...and another who repeatedly shouted “Socialist.”

Good for you, lady. He has voted that way "repeatedly" (heck, he's more 'Left' than that admitted Socialist from Vermont), so he deserves having his votes (and his intentions) acknowledged "repeatedly"...

Hey Bat, this needs an NC ping.

That restaurant isn’t rural. It’s near Fayetteville’s downtown. I heard about this incident from the lady herself today.

Hey, don’t knock the grub! I’ve eaten there before myself. Those hush puppies are fine, and that barbecue is awesome.

If the racist wins, simply continue to resist.

He hates freedom.

He hates the innocent.

He hates America.

He and his supporters are my enemies, and the enemies of America.
