Police officials said Friday that a group of men may have kidnapped a 6-year-old boy here this week because his grandfather allegedly stole millions of dollars from Mexican methamphetamine dealers, a violent retaliatory tactic rarely seen north of the border.
Cole Puffinburger -- 48 pounds, nearly 4 feet tall, blond, blue-eyed and wearing silver-rimmed glasses -- was abducted Wednesday by two or three Latino men with "heavy accents" who posed as police officers, tied up the boy's mother and her boyfriend and ransacked their home looking for money.
"They got the attention of an entire nation. We will not stop looking for this child," Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Capt. Vincent Cannito told reporters Friday. The agency is working with the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Though trafficking-related kidnappings are relatively common in Mexico -- where drug-related violence is blamed for about 3,500 deaths this year -- they rarely occur in the United States, law enforcement officials said.
Las Vegas serves as a way station for drugs headed to the Midwest and California, officials said, and has its own sizable demand for methamphetamine. But traffickers usually seize cars and other assets to recoup money.

I’m sure you don’t really think they would just quietly pack their bags and get a real job do you? They will just shift their illegal activity to another area. So, that old saw about the drug war causing the trouble is so bogus. There may be other reasons the drug war should end, but this is not one of them.
“Legalize recreational drugs and organized crime loses its major source of funding.”
That worked so well in Holland. Bad idea.
But, but, but....El Presidente Jorge Bush told us those Mexicans and others streaming across the border “shared our values”......and were coming to do the work Americans refused to do.....
Did he lie?
Did McCain lie when he said essentially the same, and worked to grant them AMNESTY?
Yet when border guards try to keep drug dealers from entering illegally, they are the ones charged by sick officials such as Johnny Sutton.
Didn’t McCain call them “God’s children”?
What ever happens to the drug lords is irrelevant to making marijuana a legalized recreational drug in America. It’s already here, and homegrown. The corruption it causes within our LE and the massive waste of taxpayer dollars to process it in our Judicial system and LE is a waste of money.
Clear the courts and prisons of recreational users, tax it to the point it’s cheaper to buy legally than on the street we’ll save billions each year.
But that would put court workers, LE and corrections folks out of biz. When is the last time you ever heard of a government layoff? It doesn’t happen and those folks will fight tooth and nail to see that will never happen.
Why do you say that? The Dutch have a lower addiction rate to heroin than the US, Singapore, and Iran.
If you want to go to the cesspool called Holland you go ahead. It is a bad idea.
Vigilanteman has posted lists of senators who voted AGAINST an amendment barring gang members and terrorists from entering this country. These senators included Obama, McCain, Clinton, Biden, Lieberman, Graham, Kennedy. Unbelievable!
George W. Bush has been the President of this country for almost 8 years.
This happened on HIS WATCH and is EXACTLY what those of us who know about Mexico, Mexicans and Mexican "culture" have been warning of for all of Mr. Bush's failed, dismal presidency.
Thirty years ago Mexican traffickers were utterly terrified of U.S. enforcement and would not have even dreamed of doing something like this because retaliation would have been swift and merciless.
But now the filthy thugs know that there will be only hand wringing, whining and empty threats, so they laugh and do what they please.
THAT is Mr. Bush's legacy.
The African Tribal leader has yet to initiate his campaign of lawlessness and Mau-Mau, and I have NO DOUBT that he will, but this happened on the other guy's watch. It's an act of terrorism, and he has been willfully on their side for ALL of his presidency.
Imagine what would have happened if Ignacio Ramos or Jose Compean had been a little too zealous in going after this human trash as they made off with the kid. Oh, darn, we already know.
You got that right. The public employee unions representing the above will protect their gravy train at all costs.
The War on Poverty has its poverty pimps, and the WOD has its drug war pimps.
Obama and Sarah Palin are the ONLY reasons I'll be voting for McCain for President — and then looking forward to a repeat of the William Henry Harrison inauguration.
Yes, I know - that is crass, tasteless, uncouth and mean spirited.....
It's been a recently acquired attitude......
Do you have any evidence to back up your argument, or are you just expressing your feelings?

Go look. Do your own research. If you want to live in a decadent sewer, move to Holland. If you want to make the US into a decadent sewer, well know that I will fight on the other side.
Mind enslaving drugs are evil.

Say what??? Not so ‘rare’....and coming to a town near you!
US official: Mexican cartels murder, kidnap in US

[snip]”Some of these groups not only engage in crime and violence not only in Mexico and along the border, but they come across and kidnap, murder and carry out assassinations,” Walters told reporters. “These groups do not respect the border.”
IOW, you have nothing to back up your claim?
So is creating a virtually unregulated black market which is now run by people willing to commit acts just like these. And people just like you created them.
Does the name "Capone" mean anything at all to you?

In the end it’s all about greed and money, isn’t it.
