Do you recall if the Pope drew a crowd that large when he was in St. Louis?

There were actually three separate events:

The youth rally at what is now Scottrade Center where the Blues play - about 30,000 or so.

Papal Mass at the Dome which seats 67,000 and there were at least 10,000 on the floor plus those in the Convention Center when they went through.

There was Evening Prayer at the Cathedral which seats 2,500 and I understand that the galleries were open as well.

Remember, the pope came in January and thanks to the Pink Sisters we had decent weather. Still had huge piles of snow, but the temps were above freezing. Altogether, it was a different experience.

You are quite welcome for the commentary. This city gets a bad rap sometimes and our airport does need renovation, but the current mayor (Maronite Rite Catholic) IS making an effort and there is an amazing amount of landscaping and renovating of the big, old, historic downtown buildings happening. The project in what was the Old Post Office is just stunning. It was really well done. I work downtown and there's an amazing difference to ten years ago. We still have our issues that all bigger cities have, but overall, this is a great place to live so long as you consider weather an adventure.

Obviously I know very well there are plenty of nice suburbs around St. Louis, as with most large cities.

Actually, Compton Heights, Parkview, the Central West End are all in the city and they far outshine the 'burbs, IMO.

If that’s a real photo without any photoshopping, we are in heap big trouble. Sigh....

Naaa. Where as the librats would use hysteria and paranoia to go after something like this, we use logic, thought and reason. There are many other cases where the enemedia has pulled photoshopping trickery and passed it off as news. We just can't trust them anymore to report on something like this with any amount of honesty. Thus, we analyze these things -putting them under tight scrutiny. By doing so, we're keeping the enemedia knowledgable on one major fact:

WE ARE WATCHING.

Nope. You haven’t seen many crowd shots in the msm lately because Sarah is killing like nobody else. Then you have McCain’s excellent performance at the Al Smith dinner and coming up, the Palin episode of SNL will garner their biggest ratings in the 33 year history of the program. THEY had to do something.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Secret Service estimated the crowd at 80,000 for what its worth. The St. Louis Police Department estimated 90,000.

Second, the police had blocked off that section of Memorial Drive to accommodate the crush of pedestrian traffic.

I figured this was the case. Rather predictable, actually.

But St. Louis is hardly a Red city.

Sure it is. But COMMUNIST RED. However, I bet a ton that a large amount of these came from EAST ST. LOUIS, ILLINOIS, which I believe is hugely black.

“Don’t get too excited. I had several co-workers go who are McCain supporters just for the “spectacle” of it. McCain/Palin would’ve drawn as many....not hard to get a crowd at the arch.”

MEET THE CANDIDATE:........CHICAGO — The Nation of Islam, a secretive movement generally closed to outsiders, has planned a rare open-to-the public event at its Chicago-based headquarters in what the Minister Louis Farrakhan deemed a “new beginning” for the group. Hundreds of religious leaders of different faiths have been invited to the event planned for Sunday, a rededication of the group’s historic Mosque Maryam on the city’s South Side. Farrakhan is scheduled to speak. “We have restored Mosque Maryam completely, and we will dedicate it to the universal message of Islam, and the universal aspect of the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad,” Farrakhan said in an invitation letter. “It represents for the Nation of Islam, a new beginning.”

“Ummm, I read somewhere that “Obama drew 100,000 in McCain country” well that is not correct. MISSOURI is McCain country for the most part. St. Louis is NOT. I live here, I should know. Not a conservative city by any means.”

Are the Pink Sisters the nuns in the pink habits? My aunt took me to see them when I was a kid.
