ST. LOUIS - Under the Gateway to the West, the St. Louis arch, Barack Obama addressed an estimated 100,000 people in the red Show Me State just 17 days before the general election - his biggest rally to date in the United States.

Madison is smaller than Saint Louis.

Kerry drew 100K in Philly back in 2004. Kerry, people.
Obama drawing 100K in the heart of St. Louis on a beautiful day ain’t no big thang...
Thanks for your clear-headedness...
I for one am NOT afraid. We WILL prevail.
At this point, they need to have some confidence and take some risks. McCain would not draw 100,000, they should leave him out of it. Sarah will drag him over the finish line.
I think you nailed it!
what band played
Not many. White suburbanites do not go into downtown St. Louis, especially on a Saturday, unless there is a special event (Cards, Rams) going on. Usually on a day like this, downtown would be dead.
Thank you. I also want to point out that Obama is not only trying to discourage Republicans and to make them forego voting but also (and this may be most important) to get the undecideds and on the fence to say that it’s already a done deal so why should I vote. McCain/Palin need to push HARD that this is not over and that they are still in the game. Not just to make us feel good but to let the undecideds who are thinking about voting for him know that this race is still wide open.
Many of Obama supporters have no god but Obama.

Warning, this is a bad thing that is progressing nicely under the radar. Check to see if your state has voted to agree to this.
Well, that could be it, too. It could be the shadow of the Arch itself. Not sure where it would fall at that time.
Well, this is unfortunate, but I don’t think anyone can do anything about it.
I lived there. Hell, I still live in Missouri. That picture is photoshopped. Period. There may very well be 100k people at an Obama rally, but that one picture is so phony that it’s not even laughable.
I-70 runs through there on upper AND lower levels, about 8 lanes across. You can’t even SEE the courthouse from down there at the Arch.
Ridiculous.
Well, goodbye to freedom. Goodbye to free enterprise. Good by to capitalism. Goodbye to America as a distinct country and force in the World. It was nice while we had you.
If you two can verify that the picture is doctored, please do! It has already come out that the ST.Louis Dispatch has endorsed Obama, and most likely all St. Louis papers will. Would be great to be able to say that the Obama campaign supporters in the news have come to doctoring pictures of his crowds!
That’s what I don’t get UNLESS they shut down the Interstate. But even that’s a stretch! And as far as the shadow in the middle of the crowd, wouldn’t the sun cast the arches in a curve position instead of a straight one. Where abouts would the sun be around the time of the rally? It looks weird. Do you think the mediaPUKERS would be brazen enough to alter this picture?
Give me a little bit and I will post the pics from virtual earth.
I thought everyone here said Obama can’t draw crowds. The son of a bitch is going to win.
