You have to pinch yourself – a Marxisant* radical who all his life has been mentored by, sat at the feet of, worshipped with, befriended, endorsed the philosophy of, funded and been in turn funded, politically promoted and supported by a nexus comprising black power anti-white racists, Jew-haters, revolutionary Marxists, unrepentant former terrorists and Chicago mobsters, is on the verge of becoming President of the United States. And apparently it’s considered impolite to say so.

I feel like I'm waking up inside Ayn Rand's book, We the Living. If you haven't read it, buy it. It's the first hand, though fictionalized story of a great writer and thinker who experienced communism first hand. With total socialist control of the government, it is where we're heading.

I am pinching myself because right now it feels like we're in the twilight zone.

I cannot believe that BO is on the verge of being President, however it just confirms what I've always thought - the majority of people are complete idiots.

That about sums it up in a nutshell.

I feel the same way. I can’t believe how fast it’s happening and how absolutely relentless it seems. I never thought I’d live to see the destruction of the US; even 6 months ago, it was unimaginable to me. I just can’t believe that this is all happening.

With total socialist control of the government, it is where we're heading.

And with the current occupant of the White House paving the way by buying up the banks, it's coming sooner than we thought. Expect more "bailouts" and intervention from the government as this crisis (manufactured?) deepens. Nationalizing the banking system is not out of the question at this point.

What the hell is wrong with people?

It confirms what I've thought about the American electorate ever since they threw a decent and patriotic man (GHW Bush) out of office in favor of a fraud, a philandering, deceitful, narcissistic, bloviating piece of dung. On average, the country has drifted leftward, and as a result, the majority of voters are incredibly intellectually lazy. They don't think, they feel. They don't examine, they simply see. And they no longer strive, they wait for people (mainly da gummint) to give them free stuff that they haven't, by their own efforts, earned, or by their own merits, deserve. The ascendancy of The Supreme Obama the Socialist/Marxist is both the culmination and end game of this trend. After eight years (or maybe more) of Obama The First, we won't have the America we do today.

We will no longer be "The Shining City On A Hill that Reagan envisioned. Oh, people will still come here for a time, as they do now, not for the chance to experience individual liberty and the opportunity to succeed based on one's own character, abilities, work ethic and spirit of self-sacrifice, but because they believe in Almighty Obama and Government and a free handout from their socialist masters. Bread and circuses featuring the lions against the Christians and conservatives at your local gulag, pap for the masses as long as they Obey The One and cheerfully consume the mind-numbing, feel-good drug that is Big Government and socialism.

'Marxisant'? Hmmm ... Did Melanie just coin a new word?

Actually, I kind of like it. It somehow sounds more derogatory than 'Marxist' or 'Marxian'.

I would like to second this comment.

“We The Living” was Ayn Rand’s first novel, and is a very readable and eye-opening book. It is not the lengthly tomes that her later works to become. Rand specificially stated that it was not autobiographical in the strict sense, but that the central character, “Kira”, mirrored her beliefs and attitudes.

I recall one part of the book in which Kira and her lover, Leo, are forced to give up a room in their apartment to someone else, per the “powers that be”.

Earlier in the campaign primary season, Obama was asked a question to the gist of, “what about sending the illegals home?” His response - incredibly paralleling Rand’s book - was something to the effect that if every American family took in just one illegal, it would solve the problems (he really said something like that). Shades of what’s to come!

By the way, if you enjoy “We The Living”, make sure you also read “Anthem”, Rand’s short novella she wrote while doing the research for “The Fountainhead”.

This is all so crazy. I am re-reading “Atlas Shrugged” after twenty years. I’ve seen posted here and elsewhere, references to Ayn Rand’s work. I recommend it to everyone. I haven’t read “We The Living” yet, but Amazon is my next stop on the web.

Damn looters.

I’m with you. This is so frightening.....America is going down the drain if the O wins.

I used to say that the only real good to come out of the ‘60’s was the Civil Rights movement. Now it feels like the tale of the Fox and the Scorpian crossing the river.
