The English version on KCNA (Korea Central News Agency) from North Korea on their website is usually about a day or two later than the Korean version, and the Korean version is about a day after whatever it is that has happened in the DPRK.
Which versions?
Also, there is often no news about Kim Jong il doing anything; but always laudatories, floral baskets being sent to him, etc. etc. He is only rarely talked about doing anything these days, the last thing being his (supposed) visit to KP Female Unit 821 which they talked on about for nearly three to four days.

CNN, Fox will get to it about three or four hours after the rest of the world and particularly East Asia hears about it, particularly on a weekend.

And the U.S. taxpayers are going to give more aid to North Korea.

I wonder if perhaps there was an attempt at a coup? Perhaps the message is something along the lines of “we’re still in charge, don’t go making any announcements or such.”

Perhaps Dear Leader will announce that he has the “vault” birth certificate of The One that The Messiah has entrusted to him.

Fox is breaking away from their coverage of OJ. Something serious must be going on.

Guys...I think the announcement is that Chia Pet's gone to the great garden downbelow.
From Radio Netherlands article.
http://www.radionetherlands.nl/news/international/6014266/North-Korean-diplomats-placed-on-alert
Last week, North Korean state television broadcast pictures of the leader inspecting a female military unit.Although the broadcaster said the inspection had taken place recently, the colour of the leaves on the trees in the background tended to suggest otherwise.

Wouldn't any of the aforementioned possibilities result in an increase in activity at the DMZ?

Usually, yes. But I think we might have a Al Haig like sitrep there where somebody might have control of the mike, but nobody’s real damn sure they’re the one in charge. Not to mention Kim’s successor isn’t well liked by anyone, and I wonder if the 5 Corps commanders in the NKPA aren’t thinking of playing a little game I like to call “Kingmaker”.
