Look at the lineup for MTP:
Do you really think they would have booked
Chuck Todd
NBC’s political director,
David Brooks
The New York Times,
Jon Meacham
Editor, Newsweek Magazine,
Andrea Mitchell
NBC News,
Joe Scarborough
MSNBC,
if there were any chance that Powell would endorse McCain? These people are on there to boast about the endorsement of Obama!

I recall Powell going to the UN before the war, and telling everyone of WMDs in Iraq. Of course Powell is a media darling, and has gotten a pass for all of that

In fact I recall hearing him basicilly repudiating that UN testimony a couple years ago. So he is in good standing with the msm. They can and do blame Bush for misleading his Sec/State.

He just said (in London) how important it was to continue identification as “African Americans” into the coming generations

Hmm. A bad sign. He is smarter than that.

For being a military man, he sure acts like a coward.

He's a politician. You don't get to be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs without being a politician. Avoiding offending or crossing powerful people is a major part of the game, and yes it looks like cowardice.

>>>>A friend and ex-aide said that Gen Powell was extremely “upset” by the “vitriol, bile and prejudice” aimed at Mr Obama on the campaign trail.
“We've talked about this and I know it really bothers him and I'd expect him to talk about it,” Col Lawrence Wilkerson, his former chief of staff, told The Telegraph.<<<<

If he is drawn to the arguably MOST Left-wing Liberal who has run for the Presidency by the seduction of this “OUTRAGE” then he will have dismissed all that Reagan saw in him IMO.

What about the way Obama’s campaign machine has “AIMED” their outrageous shots at thing like:

- Hillary & Bill (not that I'm any great lover of those 2 vermin but they were certainly targeted)?

- Palin and her family (good lord has anything we have ever seen even come close to this smear-fest)

- Unborn babies as a PUNISHMENT (so we must euthanize them)?

- Big Government gone WILD (gonna spread the WEALTH of the Nation around!)?

- A Vietnam War Hero ridiculed for NOT using the Internet (because of the egregiously profane torture injuries inflicted upon him by the enemies of our country)?

- Throw in the comments from his life-long minister about GD America, the clear race-baiting from Lewis that Obama refuses to repudiate, the charges of racism towards Penn by that complete crackpot Murtha, and then the fine appreciate comments from Jesse about Israel, and the good thoughts from the Jew hater Farrakhan???

If within the space of the exhibition of ALL of the above “vitriol, bile, and prejudice” ON BEHALF of the Obama Campaign that this former General sides with Barak and the Kos crowd, then he is an utter fool.

Imagine...the same people that would assert that his fine brethren in the Leadership of the American Armed Forces as being a BETRAYER is now embraced by the Former Leader of the Armed Forces just amazes me.

But its what I am expecting to see.

prepare for disappointment. Powell would not be going on MTP if he were endorsing McCain.

"....out will come his WMD statement to the U.N."

I don't think the Obama campaign will attack Powell at all, or at least, not too rabidly.

The General is kinda untouchable when it comes to politicians or the media pillorizing him, like it or not. He has long service to the country in war and peace, like him or not.

In fact, this is the main value of his potential endorsement for McCain.......he's more untouchable than Joe the Plumber.

Yes, and that spits on the efforts of our troops and makes Colin Powell a racist.

No it wouldn’t. I’ve been contributing weekly and it did not show. I also contributed $250 to Duncan Hunter early on last year and it doesn’t show. So you are misinformed.

Good for us if he endorses McCain. Not much difference to anyone if he endorses Obama.

And let me also add this thought.

How could the former leader of the Pentagon EVER accept a person who's allies/friends/associates were terrorists who bombed the Pentagon?

If Powell can do this then he's a complete sellout. American fought and died under his very command and now he can support the election of a person who had NO problem being aligned with terrorists who BOMBED the Pentagon?

There is something very wrong with this picture.

...why would Obama's camp leak this if it weren't true...

now THAT was funny! and indicative of a belief system that suggests you should stay away from county fairs and carnivals.

Powell will continue to straddle the fence and say somelike like "While I am endorsing John McCain, I would be comfortable with an Obama presidency."

Headlines will read: "Powell Comfortable with Obama Presidency"

I can imagine Powell presenting McCain’s pick of her as the tipping point ...to allow him to ENDORSE his friend McCain, now that he has confirmed he's a conservative and not 'the Gang of 14'!

I honestly think if it wasn't "A Black Thing" it would matter a lot, but honestly I think most Americans will see it, sadly, for what it is, my people over yours right or wrong.

Remember this? Powell's wife on race:

Alma Powell Says She Worried For Husband's Safety

"Some people journeyed across the country, discovered where the Powells live, and showed up on their doorstep. That scared her, even when the callers were fans. Her grim conclusion: "A black man running for president is going to be in a dangerous position."

Powell must be thinking he COULD have been the first real black candidate for president...the story was that Alma stopped him from joining Dole's ticket. Will that make him more or less inclined to support Obama, knowing he was better qualified for the job than "the one"?

Better get you some pepto ‘cause he’s endorsing Obama simply because he’s black. Sorta’ like women voting for Hillary simply because she’s a woman. This doesn’t count for women if candidate is conservative.

Kerry lined up tons of military endorsements, even after his post-Nam antics

I thought Kerry lost? apparently there were pounds of military endorsements by the weenies that all the vets hated to begin with. Or perhaps you're measuring Weasley Clark as a ton and I'm thinking more in terms of ounces.
