BTW, in case any journalists are reading this thread (either real ones, or Obama's "useful idiots") let me mention:

I wonder if Sec. Powell will be referring to Obama's campaigning for Raila Odinga, using Senatorial resources, and to Obama's responses to both Columbia and Venezuela.

(It's not as if Colin Powell does not know, Mr. "Jounalist.")

Thanks, I understand now.
Very informative. I didn’t know about him. My ADD is showing. I should do a little more digging into issues. Not just the surface.

IMHO Powell will look like a huge jerk to the informed if he endorses 0bama. But of course the media won’t give the history and the uneducated masses will just accept that a Retired General is supporting their false messiah.

Plus, the place to unveil a high profile endorsement would typically be at a rally with the person being endorsed.

At an Obama rally yes, but at a McCain rally?

The MSM wouldn't cover it.

But then MTP is the MSM and they can't bury that can they?

He stepped forward and donated to McCain back when he was out of money, down and out and everyone said he was going to have to quit the primary race.

If Powell endorses McCain, the MSM will check to see if he can do that without a valid plumbing license...

Why would Powell endorse Obama now?
Might want to be on the record if Obama wins.

Bucking for another job?

Maybe he will show solidarity with the military and
support McCain.
If he doesn’t brand him as another politically driven opportunist like Gen. Wesley Clark

“Powell will endorse Obama. Everything is based on race for the black voting bloc.”

Does that mean Clarence Thomas, Condoleeza Rice, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, Shelby Steele, Armstrong Williams, Larry Elder, Alan Keyes, Niger Innis, Roy Innis, etc. are all constitutionally required to support Obama? I think not.

Oh goodness, If I remember correctly he said he didn't want to do anything in public life anymore. Maybe I'm wrong. Man, we've seen so many things this election and I”m actually better prepared now to hear them...BUT please, why would he do this to his friend. Heck, I'm not John's friend and I never supported him until he got the nomination. Colin supported him before that. Fox news, Peggy (I never liked her anyway) and all the other so called conservatives, geez, what gives? White Guilt

He will be villified and excoriated, and treated almost as bad as Joe the Plumber.

Exactly why he's most likely to endorse Obama. Powell is a eunuch.

This from the Guardian:

Powell's decision might be seen as being based on racial solidarity and that could alienate some white voters already reluctant to back Obama on grounds of race.

I don’t believe it’s a fait accompli one way or the other.

Here’s what Powell said back in September:

“[T]o send that kind of a message (having a black president), I think would be electrifying,” he said, “but at the same time, we have to make a judgment here ... which of the candidates blends a right measure of experience and judgment? I have been watching both of these individuals, and I know them both extremely well and I have not decided who I’m going to vote for yet.”

Powell said he wants to watch the debates, look at the party platforms, and focus on substance. “We’ve got to get off this lipstick on a pig stuff,” he said to loud applause.

When one of the moderators asked Powell whether this vote was personal to him since he was the first African-American Secretary of State, his answer sparked wild applause. “I’m an American first and foremost,” he said.

Powell explained to the audience that he told McCain he would not vote for him just because they have been friends for 25 years, and he told Obama he would not vote for him just because he is black. He said he will look at who has the best economic policies, who inspires the most confidence in the country and around the world, and who will keep America safe.

He contributed the max ($2300). But that was last year and this is now. O No.

Rumor has it he is endorsing Obama. At best he may just keep quiet. I would love for him to extend the hand of friendship to McCain but I don’t see it.
