LAS VEGAS, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Las Vegas police say they are looking for the grandfather of a missing boy who was presumed kidnapped in a case that apparently involves drug trafficking.
Police Friday said Clemens Tinnemeyer was a "significant person of interest" in the abduction of 6-year-old Cole Puffinberger, and was believed to be involved in drug dealing when he was last seen in May.
Tinnemeyer last had contact with his family in August. He was reported missing last month and was last seen driving a white 2004 Dodge pickup with Mississippi license plate KA6251.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal said the investigation into this week's home invasion at Cole's home turned up a connection to the child's family and Mexican drug runners. Sources said an unspecified family member apparently had been laundering money for drug traffickers and disappeared owing them as much as $20 million.
Police say three Hispanic men posing as police officers accosted Cole's mother and her fiance at their home early Wednesday. They tied up the adults and demanded money. When no money was found in the home, they left and took the youngster with them.
Federal agents joined the investigation and an Amber Alert has been issued for the child in Nevada and four other states on the chance the suspects were headed to Mexico with the boy.

I’ve been praying for this boy. Actually, if the grandfather has him, is there more of a chance for him to survive?? I mean, if it had been just child molesters, he might not make it.

I hate to say it, but the Mexican drug cartels do not give a rat’s ass about the life of anyone, even a child. God I hope I am wrong.

UPDATE:
Cole Puffinberger was found alive in a neighborhood northeast of the Las Vegas Strip, according to police. A resident informed police about the boy walking the streets at around 11:30 PM Saturday.
In an early morning news conference Police captain Vince Cannito said,
“Cole (Puffinburger) has been found, he is safe and in our custody,” he continued “It’s just a blessing that this child has been found and he’s in extremely good condition.”
The six year old boy was abducted by alleged drug dealers posing as police officers on October 15, 2008. Three armed men tied up Cole’s mother and her fiancee, ransacked their home and then took Cole after they didn’t find money in the home.
Police allege that Coles’s grandfather Clemons F. Tinnemeyer, who was arrested Friday in Riverside, California was involved in a drug ring and Cole’s kidnapping was retaliation for millions of dollars that came up missing.
Now that Cole has been found, the investigation will focus on the drug dealing and extortion that’s believed to have fueled Cole’s abduction.
