Obama Co-Sponsors Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA)

Posted on 10/17/2008 11:02:58 AM PDT by Candybar

In response to the Supreme Court decision upholding the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, Senator Obama and 13 Senate Co-Sponsors introduced Senate Bill 1173. This bill proposes that virtually all federal and state limitations on abortion be nullified.

The key binding provisions of the bill would invalidate all of the major types of pro-life laws that have been upheld by the Supreme Court since Roe v. Wade became law in 1973 including the ban on partial-birth abortions and bans on government funding of abortion.

Obama, himself, says that abortions should be legally available in accordance with Roe v. Wade.

But, but, but, Mr Obama, you are, in effect, trying to destroy and eliminate to right to life in our country. By co-sponsoring this bill, you have absolutely no respect for other people's rights!

Is the text of this online?

I’ve heard it also contains language restricting the operations of abortion alternative organizations.

I don’t give a damn about the issues of privacy or “the health of the mother” or how difficult this decision is, or the claim that this is something between a woman and her doctor or a woman and her God, the willful taking of a baby’s life is wrong. Those who are doing it are evil.

Just wondering: If he were elected, could he sign a bill that he had sponsored and/or voted on while in the Senate (albeit illegally)?

apparently it strikes down at federal level any and all legislation passed by the states to curb, restrict or widen abortion alternative choices. It removes any provision for medical professionals to exercise conscience. It makes unfettered abortion on demand at any point in the 9 month pregnancy, a right. Any restriction or failure on anyones part to provide it, could be a civil violation

Jews being transported by the naziis to the gas ovens had more civil protection than unborn children, under this act. Sorry to be so blunt.

“No one is pro-abortion” - trying to improve his appearance by removing any attempt to measure a person’s position at all. In essence, he denies the existence of evil, and it’s some of the worst evil the world has ever seen. But if everyone is “good” then he can’t be “bad.” I too want to see what provisions this bill has for restricting abortion alternative organizations because even Obama can’t make his moral relativism stick if people find out about that.

Here is the YouTube video where Obama says the first thing he’ll do as president will be to sign the Freedom Of Choice Act.

He will bring back partial birth abortion.

I just shot off an email to Joe Lieberman. He is also a co-sponsor. This bill would eliminate ANY restrictions/safeguards/protections- even those voted in by individual states from what I can see. It’s the WORST! Start yelling about it, Freepers!

It’s disgusting, but not surprising given his position on outright infanticide. He’s not just pro-abortion, he believes in a guarantee of a dead baby, even if it initially survives.
