Slain trooper's infant son dies

Asheville, N.C. — The infant son of a slain trooper died late Thursday at Mission Hospitals in Asheville, according to hospital officials.
Tye Blanton was born prematurely, two weeks before his father's death.
Trooper David Shawn Blanton, 24, was shot to death in June during a traffic stop on Interstate 40 near Canton.

My husband is a police officer and I too had a premature baby, this is just unbelievably sad. How does one even process this?
