Toledo, Ohio, officials plan to notify "Joe the Plumber" Worzelbacher that he's out of work, following his televised criticism of Democrat Presidential candidate Barack Obama's tax plan:
A staff person with the Toledo Division of Building Inspection told On Call this afternoon that her division will contact Wurzelbacher to notify him that he can't work without a license.
"We're trying to track him down," she said.
In the meantime, the Democrat-friendly local plumbers' union is fuming.
"He has no license whatsoever with the city of Toledo," said Tom Joseph, the business manager for Local Union 50 of the Plumbers, Steamfitters and Service Mechanics, which has endorsed Obama. "He has no license in the state of Ohio. He has no contractor's license in the state of Ohio. He is not a plumber. He works for a plumber."

Does your daddy only hire license plumbers and electrician that require all their employes to be licensed as well or does your daddy hire a company that has the appropriate license and a bunch of helpers?

I just made it! It’s looks a little ‘homemade’...but fun! I just wrote ‘Win One For The Plummer’ and left out the ‘flush’ part.(Don’t want to get any Obama neighbors too upset). Hubby is going to help me put it up when he gets home. I will take a picture of it in the morning and figure out a way to get it online. I have been meaning to get a flickr account anyway and will ping you when I post it.
There was a thread this morning that showed he did have a license.
In any case, they are trying to kill his business opportunities.

These licensing systems are NOT there to protect the citizens from shoddy work. These systems are to protect jobs, only. I am not criticizing the hard work and quality of your father—only pointing out that the licensing and certification systems are for job protections and often are union methods for holding control over a profession. For example, in Wash DC, there may still be a requirement for thousands of hours of training and high fees to be a barber. The ruse is that it protects public health but no concern over public health led to the requirements—it was a political act to support the local hair cutting businesses from competition.
