I don’t think I’m gonna be able to sleep the night before the election. What is awesome for me is that I’m in Hawaii so some of the polls will close in early afternoon my time. I’m hoping that McCain gets a clear victory. I don’t want to pay attention to polls, but I can’t help myself. :-)

The funniest part about the poll that has McCain within two, is that they actually say that people are souring on McCain, HUH?

Even some bookie in the UK, or was it Ireland?, has already paid out to those betting an Obama win.

And that, folks, is one dumb former bookie!

WHOA!! They just started a new one! What a start!! If it keeps trending like this, AOL may have to fix the poll, because it SURE can't be right! It's 74-25 at last check with about 4,000 votes!

We'll see what people are thinking now after the last week of NOBAMA BASHING & "sharing the wealth"!

I participated in the Military Times poll, we're subscribers. The military went for McCain about 72 to O’s 32, it's not exact numbers but somewhere around that. When they reported it they gave all kinds of excuses why McCain was far ahead (code speak, it didn't come out the way they wanted, civilian writers run the paper). So today in my email box they are doing another poll. I filled it out and wrote a letter to them in response. I told them they didn't get the result they wanted and therefore that was the only reason they are redoing the poll. I'll see what response I get.

I have never argued that the ACORN crap should not be pointed out and people should not be prosecuted for it, but I am not convinced remotely that the registration crap is going to turn into waves of illegal voting, any more than any other election.

As a person who lives right by OHIO and in a state that has become more and more likely to turn every election I’ve seen fraud.. and I don’t see anything going on in this election that hasn’t been going on for several election cycles, other than the fact the press is paying attention to it this time.

I don’t see it swinging elections. Its serious and needs to be addressed and folks need to go to jail for their roles in it, but the idea that these massive registraion things are going to turn into massive actual voting fraud beyond what has happened in every election up to this point is a huge jump not based on logic.

Most of the socialistic thinking people live in and around the big metroplexes. Just think if the votes in those cities were thrown out. Who would end up winning?

YES! The libs have tried so hard to deceive the uneducated voters in America, but it is starting to BITE them in the butt. ((Heehee))

Good news, but we all need to keep fighting as if we are waaaay beind to win this on NOV 4th. Get out and vote and encourage anyone you know who may be sitting this out to go vote for McCain/Palin. They needs every vote! We have the numbers if we can unite the undecideds!

Exactly. A week or so ago this poll was very lopsided Obama and people thought it was BS. Now a lot of those same people want to believe it.

A week ago I was telling anybody posting a poll that does not show the internals is a waste of time, and every time they posted the internals we were able to point out that Obama was not massively ahead as the polls said and so it was BS.

Now, in this poll the internals show Obama has a huge problem, as several others have also shown.....So, if you take this poll without the internals it is still BS.

Remember those media types and various libs who told McCain bringing up Wiliam Ayers and all the other America-hating scoundrels in Obama’s past would drastically hurt him? Now McCain is closing the gap. Joe the Plumber is definitely helping, but maybe a lot of scary info about Obama that had been thrown down a media black hole has resurfaced thanks to McCain (finally) forcing the issue.

API hasn’t release Hussein’s wife temper-tantrum.

Hussein should tell his wife, “put a lipstick on michelle and she still look like a pig”.

"don't underestimate ACORN stories"

Exactly the point I've been trying to make. Many self-proclaimed pundits are spouting that the negative stuff about Obama has been worn out. I'd like to see the name-identification polls to prove that. I'd bet there is a majority of adult Americans who still couldn't place ACORN, Ayers, Rezko, and the like. If a sizable amount of people in Harlem don't even know that Joe Biden is Obama's running mate and not Sarah Palin, that proves there's millions of adults who are still ignorant about Obama's past. McCain has to keep drilling this home.

McCain approval goes down while race tightens, AP Bizarro polling indicates.

it could be conservatives that have been unhappy with how he'd been running his campaign... yet are still voting for him...

It's a worthless poll. Read the methodology from the polling organization itself:

The survey was conducted using the web-enabled KnowledgePanelSM, a probability-based Panel designed to be representative of the U.S. population. Initially, participants are chosen scientifically by a random selection of telephone numbers. Persons in selected households are then invited by telephone to participate in the webenabled KnowledgePanelSM. For those who agree to participate, but do not already have Internet access, Knowledge Networks provides at no cost an Internet appliance and Internet service connection. People who already have computers and Internet service are permitted to participate using their own equipment. Panelists then receive unique log-in information for accessing surveys online, and then are sent emails three to four times a month inviting them to participate in research. More technical information is available at http://www.knowledgenetworks.com/ganp/reviewer-info.html.

The biases built right into this methodology are staggering. Old people, disabled people, poor people, those without landline phones, those who hate technology, those who don't have the time (perhaps they're actually working for a living)... The list goes on and on and on.

And here's the kicker: it consists of 873 Democrats and 650 Republicans. If that ain't a bias then nothing is.

Don't waste your time or your emotion being either encouraged or discouraged by this poll. It is utterly worthless.

As edzo4's reference points out, the polls were very accurate in 2004, and showed George W. Bush with a lead all through October...
In the last presidential election the polls were surprisingly accurate -- not including the massively inaccurate Election Day exit poll. In the end, Bush beat John Kerry 50.7 percent to 48.3 percent in 2004. Most of the October polls showed the candidates in a dead-heat, with Bush 1 to 3 points ahead. So either pollsters got a whole lot better starting in 2004, or Democrats stole more votes in that election than we even realized.
